You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

Happy Anniversary!

Since all of the mainstream news seems to have overlooked it, I want to wish anyone else on the board that was in the 1st Gulf a "happy" 20th anniversary.

I arrived Aug. 16th 1990 and was there til March 24th 1991. Turned 21 a week to the day before we went in on the ground. The worst part was the working parties that had to stay behind for a month after we left to clean our vehicles. Those poor guys were lucky to have a bus waiting for them by the time that they came back.

I haven't filed any Gulf War Syndrome claims yet. Just my knee, back and PTSD, but my stomach problems have never been figured out and I'm thinking of filing for it after my final appeal is done in a few months.

Went in with 3rd Tanks and had A 1/7 on our vehicles.

It is sort of miserable to have been a veteran in a forgotten war. Korea and Vietnam vets get the same treatment. OIF/OEF have dragged on for so long they have sucked the oxygen out of the public's mind regarding war and veterans.

You just can't compete with 19 year old's being killed in a land where the people still live in the 12th century. This is the future: low intensity wars that never end. They just change location.

Ooh Rah Sandman! When I transferred to Pendleton in 92 to teach at Amtac school we used to charge the LAV guys a case of beer to pull them out of the mud. LOL You TOW guys were awesome there. I was with 3rd Tanks who still had M60's. Nobody told 2nd MarDiv that. Led to some scary incidents!

John999, thank you. My step-dad was a Vietnam vet too and I saw the effect it had on him and sadly I see that a lot in myself. He passed away from "unknown reasons" that my mom and I fought to get related to Agent Orange (and were successful thanks to this site!). Thank you for your service and help here.

TBird...... there isn't enough thanks in the world for you. This site should be mandatory for every troop getting out of the service. Thank you and your family for everything!

Maybe when the air and/or ground war dates come around we might rate a blurb on the news...........

    • Choosing a VA Disability Attorney Means Learning What Questions to Ask
Choosing a VA Disability Attorney Means Learning What Questions to Ask. Chris Attig - Veterans Law Blog

<br style="color:#000000; text-align:start">How to Hire an Attorney For Your VA Claim or Appeal Free Guidebook available on the Veterans Law Blog

I got an email the other day from a Veteran.  It had 2 or 3 sentences about his claim, and then closed at the end: “Please call me. So-and-so told me you were the best and I want your help.”

While I appreciate the compliments, I shudder a little at emails like this.  For 2 reasons.

First, I get a lot of emails like this.  And while I diligently represent my clients – I often tell them we will pursue their claim until we have no more appeals or until we win – I am most assuredly not the best.

There are a LOT of damn good VA Disability attorneys out there.  (Most, if not all, of the best are members of the National Organization of Veterans Advocates…read about one of them, here)

Second, I don’t want Veterans to choose their attorney based on who their friend thought was the best.  I want Veterans to choose the VA Disability attorney who is BEST for their case.

In some situations, that may be the Attig Law Firm.

But it may also be be Hill and Ponton, or Chisholm-Kilpatrick, or Bergman Moore.  Or any one of the dozens of other attorneys who have made the representation of Veterans their professional life’s work.

There are hundreds of attorneys that are out there representing Veterans, and I’m here to tell you that who is best for your friend’s case may not be the best for your case.

How do you Find the Best VA Disability Attorney for your Claim?

First, you have to answer the question: do you NEED an attorney?

      Some of you don’t...
