Letter From Vso

Rate this question

Question

I got a letter from my VSO yesterday saying that I should soon be receiving notification from the VA that my claim for IU has been granted, and is "permanent". Since the rating is permanent, I will be receiving information about other benefits.

I called his office, because I couldn't believe it. His assistant assured me that they had sent the letter to the right Hedgey, and it was really my information, and that there really was a decision letter stating that it's permanent, and that I would be getting retro back to last year. He told me to call back on Monday to talk to the VSO about the other benefits.

I'm in turmoil here. I'm excited and sick to my stomach at the same time. I haven't told my spouse because I'm afraid it's not real and I don't want to have to say it was all a mistake.

I know I won't really believe it until I have the letter from the VA in my hand, and the money in the bank. But this is a good sign, right? I wanted to call the VA 800 number to verify it, but I was afraid to. What other benefits are there? I thought that IU only meant the $$ compensation was boosted to 100%.

I couldn't sleep last night. I guess I'm just posting here about it now because I can't tell anyone else. Thanks for being here, dear Hadit!

Let us be kind, one to another, for we are each of us together in our pain.

Hedgey,

I am not sure if the benfits for IU P&T are the same as they are for 100% schedular P&T. I wish I could help more, but someone on the board will answer your question.

Congratulations on your win!

hedgey,

I would hold back and wait for the official VA letter also.

But in my opinion - it all looks great.

P&T means several additional benefits also probably some additional

state benefits, perhaps no property tax where you live on your primary

residence - college for kids - etc...

When the retro hits - spend it wisely.

And a Happy Holidays to all.

My intentions are to help, my advice maybe wrong, be your own advocate and know what is in your C-File and the 38 CFR that governs your disabilities and conditions.

Do your own homework. No one knows the veteran’s symptoms like the veteran. Never Give Up.

I do not give my consent for anyone to view my personal VA records.

Hey it sounds like and looks like good news to me. I was notified by my VSO that I was granted IU a year ago. I know exactly what you are feeling right now. What a great gift, huh. Enjoy, but most of all RELAX. lol

Hedgey,

I'll be waiting to hear your excitement when you receive your official VA letter, hopefully this coming week. It sounds awfully promising at this point. An early congrats from me, just in case I don't get back to you later.
