Question

I Put in my claim for ptsd in June 2010. 1-26-2011 it went to decision phase. Its been with the rating board for over a month now. Anyone had this issue? I did provide them with every document that wasn't in my c-file that supports my claim. I just really need some input. This is driving me nuts.

that's good. you are on the final mile my friend. keep the faith!

So after I posted I decided to call the 800#. My claim moved onto the next stage on 11-8-2011. So now I am freaking out because its been 3 business days today and they are still reviewing my claim for accuracy. The lady checked to see if there were any letters in the system and there isn't. So she couldn't tell me ifit was approved or denied. As soon as she told me it is being finalized I got instant cotton mouth. Is it a good or bad sign that it has been 3 business days and they're still working on finalizing it??????????

i hope you do as well. SSA is still waiting on the VA to submit my records. You are still waiting on a copy of your C&P?? OMG! how long has it been?

Thank you. I asked about the copy I requested but the lady said they're going to process it after they have sent out the decision. I'm really hoping that a police report of robbery in my barracks room, getting my congressman involved. and that all the medical evidence from in service they used to get me SCed for asthma will be enough. I don't see how it wouldn't be enough since they determined I don't have asthma and that it is actually ptsd. So I would assume the medical records from in service that were used to get me SCed for asthma would also be used to get me SCed for ptsd. Anyone have any thoughts on this????

when I had my C&P the doc said that depression was incorrectly diagnosed by the military and inital claim and that PTSD was infact the main diagnosis with a service connection directly related to the military and the depression was stemmed from that. I would probaby guess that your C&P went along the same lines after they got the whole story.

for me it's all the same thing since you can only get one mental disorder at a time with the VA anyways. I was just glad that I finally knew what was indeed the "problem" so to speak. with you it's a good thing because asthma is totally different and if you get SC'd for PTSD you will get your therapy meds included with that that you need. since you don't have the first and do indeed have the second i would say it's a very good thing! and more than likely that's prob what held up your claim for so long going back and finding those records of the robbery and ect along with coinciding with the diagnosis of the C&P and your therapis and doc's, meds ect. to prove your case along with what you submitted.

Is that a good thing???

So I talked to my social worker at the VA about my claim. She thinks they might go back to when I first started receiving comp for asthma for my retro pay. Anyone ever heard of them dating your retro pay back to when you started getting paid for a misdiagnoses?
