Carl the Engineer
All, Not to sure I understand the VA pension all that much. If you can shed any light on my Father in Laws situation, let me know. He was called up for the Cuban Missile Crisis, I believe, early 60's. He has a DD214, and it references a presidential order. He was NG, and activated for a period of time, cant remember how long. Recently widowed. 70 years of age. SS of $900 a month. $250 a month mortgage on a approximately $135,000 home. I do not know the balance owed. Does not work, no income other than SS. Thats the easy part. He and my late Mother in Law were very anti-government people. So getting accurate info from him may be a job. However, my Sister in Law is now in charge of his finances, so, if she knew he could get some more income she would get the needed info. He is on a very tight budget currently without his late wifes SS. Let me know what you think. Hamslice “There is no hook my friend. Carl the Engineer
Oh, also, is it a straight benefit, or based on income?? Thanks again, Hamslice... “There is no hook my friend. There's only what we do.” Doc Holiday

HadIt.com Elder Philip Rogers Posted September 7, 2011 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted September 7, 2011 He may or may not qualify. It's currently about $985 a month and is income based, so it's adjusted based on other income and medical expenses. Have him apply and let them decide. pr
Berta
The entire Pension regulation is here under Ware@1's post: If he falls into a time frame of service for any period of war (Cuban Missile Crisis alone won't fulfill the criteria) then they will consider his income. He should apply and let the VA make the decision. GRADUATE ! Nov 2nd 2007 American Military University ! When thousands of Americans faced annihilation in the 1800s Chief Osceola's response to his people, the Seminoles, was simply "They(the US Army)have guns, but so do we." Sameo to us -They (VA) have 38 CFR ,38 USC, and M21-1- but so do we.
