Question

I'm trying to figure out if I received the correct amount of retro and need a little assistance on how to figure the mid-month ED. For instance my ED was 6-15-2010. do I count the full month as retro or partial?

Coot - that's why we always say to apply as early as possible. If you wait until the first of the month, to file a claim, ya lose a whole month's comp. COLA date was 12/01/2011 but I don't believe it actually shows up in our pay until January 1st's payment, which generally comes 12/31, due to the New Yrs holiday. Just sayin . . .

pr

I really didn't know that PR. Then VA needs to start writing these out like "Your Effective Date starts the 1st of July, or the 1st of whatever the following month is. That's crazy. I'll figure it out using the 1st of July and see what it comes out to. What month did we start the COLA? I'm thinking it was in Oct.

PR and Carlie are right. No "pro rate" for the month. SS has a 5 month waiting period, while the VA's is only one month, as in PR's example.

Its an example of "we will round it down, to the nearest month". This is not a favor the Veteran policy..its favor the government.

This being said, at least everyone is treated the same on that.
