I had also signed a statement that I do not have any other documents to support my claim(s). It is stated on ebenefits that is in the "Gathering of Evidence" stage. Thank you Carlie for your response; I appreciate it.

The above that you signed was probably your VCAA notice.

Try to not get in the habit of calling the 800 # or checking ebenefits often

as the info is not timely updated, is known to be inaccurate, and it just

gets very depressing when everything about our life centers around their

decision. I would not be expecting timely answers.

I would suggest to be sure your RO and VAMC always have your current/correct

mailing address and phone number.

I would suggest checking the 800 # and myhealthevet every couple of weeks

to check and verify any appointments they show you scheduled for - try to help

ensure a C&P doesn't get missed by you - yes, this happens fairly frequently.

Veteran's C&P notice either doesn't arrive prior to the scheduled appointment

or it went to a wrong address, etc...

If you have private docs or begin getting care at your VAMC you could see if

the provider would be willing to fill out one of the new DBQ forms for each separate

issue.

It is important that they are able to review a copy of your c-file and state that they

have done so. It is of MOST importance that they provide a firm diagnosis and relate

the claimed issue/condition to active duty (a nexus).

Basic Example - vet has Hearing loss and the numbers etc...from the hearing test -

vet has RECURRENT tinnitus. It is my medical opinion the are directly related to

XXXXXXX (something from active duty) as shown in SMR/STR's.

PTSD MUST come from a VA provider at this time.

Hearing loss and Tinnitus must come from a licensed Audiologist.

Here's a link for DBQ info and forms: http://benefits.va.gov/TRANSFORMATION/dbqs/FAQS.asp

Right now since your waiting on C&P's you could be working on those above.

Also, if you are not getting mental health care at your VAMC yet - request it,

you can also contact your nearest Vet Center and go see someone there -

take a DD214 and ID with you.

VA will accept Vet Center letters and treatment summaries as medical evidence,

if the provider has the right pedigree.

Try to forge ahead living life the best you can each day.

Get by how ever you can (legally) and count on nothing in the form

of compensation from VA for now - that way you keep living your life

not spending most of your time in hell, waiting for their answer and help.

I am really not trying to be a hard azz, mean/rude/condescending/etc...

Just trying to help prepare you for the reality of the VBA claims process

and how and where you can go to get the medical care you need.

It's real easy for the claims process to just swallow up years of our lives,

that's why I suggest living your life the best you can - each day or it can

really beat you down - try not to let it.

I hope you luck out and it goes better for you than it has for many other claimants.

Carlie,

I do not believe that your being a hard azz. I understand that you are very knowledgable of the VA system. I have been reading your previous post and replies. I appreciate whatever information, and guidance that you can give me. I just needed to be pointed in the right direction. Thank you again.
