Phone Call With Va Today.

Question

Today I called the VA at their number (1-800-827-1000) and was told I had a fifteen minute wait time. I then was given the option of leaving my name, and phone number and would be called back by VA.

Exactly fifteen minutes later I get a call and I am on hold for another two minutes listening to elevator music. Then I was connected to a very NICE lady who wanted to know the purpose of my call. I explained that I had a claim for IU, and that I had taken the C&P over 90 days ago. She looked up my claim and advised me that my claim has passed the deadline. Deadline? What deadline? She continued to tell me that when a claim is being rated and has passed a certain amount of time she can request an inquiry on the reason for the delay. Further she would have someone from the VA call me and respond in writing within 10 days. I was issued a referance number in case I wanted to call again or did not get a call on my inquiry.

Have any of you hadit viewers experienced this? Is is positive or negative? Or as I suspect is my claim setting on someones desk awaiting its turn.

Only thing I can say is that you're not alone. My claim for TDIU is now going on 15 months. Now, that's way pass any Deadline the VA may have.

Just hang in there, hopefully we all hear something soon.

I think I can already predict some of what will be in that written response.

We are dealing with a high number of claims at the present time.....thank you for your service.....we really cannot predict when it will be done....if you have additional questions please call us back.

The deadline she was refering to is a suspense date they put in the file to indicate that the requested action/step should be completed by. I would venture a guess that over 90% of those dates are not met.

Hang in there!

Calling that number is a crap shoot. A very small percentage of vets get an accurate answer. They drop message thge RO and if you get a response or call then great. But usually it is a planned response telling you nothing.

The deadline she may have been refering to is that date they have estimated to have your claim done by. Try ebenefits

e-benefits is out of touch!

71M10 was correct, at each phase/action the claim travels through, a suspense date is placed on the particular action. On my experience, many, many of them dates are never met. And what happens when a date isn't met/ Another date is issued...

Bottom line, don't worry yourself with dates...
