Trazodone Tolerance?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had a problem with Trazodone only working for a week or so, then having to increase the dosage to get it to work? After a couple weeks I start reverting back to my anti-slumber ways, and it is so disappointing. I finally get some relief for my wakefulness, late-night house prowling and nightmares, then it slowly goes back to the mental and physical torture of no quality of sleep.

If you have had this problem, how did you deal with it?

Tell your psychiatrist there are tons of other things they can try for sleep, sometimes it takes trying a few different ones to find the one that works for you. My personal experience with Trazadone was not good, it helped me sleep, but caused a lot of disorientation.

I am writing my memoirs and would love it if you could help a shipmate out and look at it.

I've had a few challenges, perhaps the same as you. I relate them here to demonstrate that we can learn, overcome, and find purpose in life.

The stories can be harrowing to read; they were challenging to live. Remember that each story taught me something I would need once I found my purpose, and my purpose was and is HadIt.com Veterans.

I take it, just started a couple of weeks ago, I could not sleep at all. Now with Trazodone along with a new depression pill, I sleep great. Had a couple of dreams but no night mares , so far so good.

I get mixed results. Sometimes there is no effect, but then other times I awaken and feel like I am a zombie for half a day.

I am having a problem with Trazodone. I don't sleep anymore than I used to but I am groggy but get agitated on it at the same time. I have to take a Lorazepam with it (which my Psychiatrist said I can only take short term). Any other sleep meds the VA uses?

Trazadone does not work for me, it makes disoriented an zoned out. My niece and her fiance lived with for about a year and the doc put me on Ambian. I took Ambian for sleep it worked pretty good. But my doc took me off it when my the kids moved out. I have disassociation problems and he was concerned living alone if the Ambian caused any sleep walking there would be no one here to keep me safe. I did not do any sleep walking that any one noticed. Some meds I think it was Remeron if the doc increases the dosage I sleep eat, so I stay pretty low on that.
