Thanks all, I really appreciate the comments.

Once I get the VA package in the mail I will update with how the claim was broke down. In the mean time I guess I will sit here and wonder when my retro will hit my account. I'm still a little confused to the effective date, I filed my claim in Nov 2012 but the effective date in ebenefits was Dec 2013. Thanks again everyone, it really does mean something when you take time out of your day to provide support.

If this claim was for an Increase in %s, then no the VA will not go by the date you filed. The increase pay only kicks in the following month after you get approved.

Thanks for the quick response Navy04.... This was my first initial claim thats why the effective date kinda threw me off. I'm assuming its effective on Dec 2013 due to the fact that is the latest cola update but you know what happens when one assumes.. Thanks again for the quick response.

I'll stand firm with my above post. If you truly think that the DAV rep and the RO is making deals behind your back, nothing I'm going to say will change that.

GEE,

First off, we are trampling on the OP's topic -

Secondly - yes, it is certainly against the regs BUT

VSO's and VBA decision maker's DO try to play let's make a deal with

claim issues, it is not abnormal at all.

Many times agreements have been made behind closed doors and to not

believe that - is ignoring reality.

A reminder to all - when you sign a POA to a VSO you are personally handing them

the legal right to

do . . . or . . . not do .....

whatever they feel up to

with YOUR claim issues, as THEY see fit.

Generally speaking, my guess is that AT LEAST 90% do NOT return phone calls

or stay in good communication standing with claimants.

Many do not have the time and if they have nothing to tell you and feel no more

info or evidence is needed from you - then they have no reason to communicate.

I am not in total agreement that this is right - but that's the way it works.

I will add that - YES INDEED, there ARE some good VSO apples out there,

just few and far between.

Carlie I wanted to take a moment and thank you personally....well at least thank you via this forum. I don't know if you recall but when I first joined this site I was running into a few road blocks with how to move forward with my claim and you personally helped me out by providing important information that pointed me in the right directions. Thanks again for all you do, you are truly an angel...

jfarr,

So nice to read that everything has worked out, as it should.

You've most likely heard the saying that sometimes,

"It takes a village to raise a child",

I kind of equate that to VBA claimants and hadit -

in most cases if we stick around, we all learn so much from one another

and hopefully some day, are able to help another claimant/vet.

That's how it happened for me.

Other's taught me - and I stay around and try to help.

It feels great to be a little part of the cloth as it unravels.
