"Recent documents show the VA sent McCall to a doctor to assess his condition before the latest hearing. Despite the doctor's written order confirming the combat wounds, the VA didn't consider that document and denied benefits again.

WSFA 12 News took the problem to the Central Alabama VA. Several weeks of calls, forms, and multiple emails later, the VA granted McCall's benefits. The VA also gave the veteran more than $100,000 in back pay."

Its great when it happens but look at all the years that Veteran did without. I think that VA should have to pay a penalty on claims that they have bollixed.

Congratulations to the Vet.

I agree with Pete about the penalty. The VA should at least be required to pay interest on the retro. The government (IRS) doesn't hesitate to charge a penalty and interest to taxpayers who don't pay their financial obligations (taxes) by the required deadline.
