Bilateral Rating Or Not?

Rate this question

silverdollar22

Question

I just recieved service connection on my right knee in connection with my bad back and bad left knee. My BBE did not state that this would make both of my knees eligible for a bilateral rating. Would this be the case or not? How could I tell if they granted it?

Thanks in advance,

Eric

silverdollar22,

They probably have already figured in the bilateral factors. I can't recall ever seeing bilateral factors discussed in a rating decision that is sent to the Veteran.

The best way to confirm that they were applied is to get a copy of you Rating Decision Code Sheet. Send a 21-4138 requesting a copy or if you are using a VSO that has VA computer access, the VSO should be able to print one for you.

That's clear as mud!! HA, HA !! So it should be combined now that my right knee was service connect as secondary to my left knee?? And if so can i just ask for a reconsideration on this issue? Would that be the best way to handle this?
