Considered To Be A War Zone.

Good Evening,

Hello everyone, I was just talking with a friend about different campaigns and war zones, and like Afghanistan, and Iraq, he states that he took place in the Kosovo war where he was stationed out of Aviano Italy, and he states that was considered a combat zone. Does this sound correct?

I googled and found nothing to collaborate Aviano being a Combat Zone. I guess it is possible that some troops received combat pay while stationed there. Aviano has a web address and FB Page you might want to ask someone who is connected with the base.

If your friend was in a combat zone or Enemy Hostile territory it should be noted on his DD-214

If he was infantry it should have a CIB.

OR maybe some old TDY Orders!

If the vet received combat pay, then it was a combat zone. If not, I believe it would be a steep uphill battle.
