Question

Hi, Happy Friday everyone.  Today a visting nurse (from the VNA) came to my home to examine me (vitals) and talk about how my MS and asthma limits my life.  She was very nice.  She is also going to recommend PT and OT.  Medicare will pay for this.

She considered me homebound (true since MS will limit your life big time)  and I asked her how does this translate into "VA speak...she said she did not know but to see my new primary again.  I think I will wait till the county VSO returns from training and pay him a visit.

Any thoughts on this?  Any and all thoughts are appreciated.

I am researching theVeterans Choice still.  Thank you.

If you don't have a separate 60SC rating in addition to your 100% SC, request by Secure Msg on your MHV account, that either your PC or Specialist Dr complete a Housebound Application and submit it on your behalf.

No reason to wait for anything, "Get'R Done."

Just be sure that your Dr knows you handle all your own Finances without any help. You don't want a misunderstanding causing the VA to propose a Fiduciary Appointment, right.

If your receiving VA Comp, you can't get A & A, Housebound only SMC (S)1-2 or3. VA Pension recipients are eligible for both or either, A&A and Housebound.

Hi Gastone and Broncovet,  thank you for the information.  I am receiving 100% Comp (P&T), I served almost 8 years in the Army.  Before the county VSO went on training he said I was eligible for a scooter and a lift (he is a very nice man but IMVHO "talk is cheap"),

I am waiting patiently for him to return so I can see him about this.

Thank you again.  Have a good weekend.

I can relate I am SC for ms too. I get a home health aid 3 times a week paid for by the VA. You should have no problem getting a scooter and lift. If you can see a social worker at the VA they should be able to lead you in the right direction. My wife gets paid to be my caretaker for bowel and bladder care. The VA should also cover any OT or PT you receive. They sent someone to my house for both PT and OT.

USMC 79-85

100% P&T

SMC R1

70% loss of use of right arm due to multiple sclerosis

100% suprapubic cystostomy due to multiple sclerosis

100% loss of use of both lower extremities due to multiple sclerosis

30% left upper extremity weakness

30% insomnia with hypersomnolence

10% neurogenic bowel
