I got an appointment with the VA, I have to do labs first, I have s/c depression and before I was s/c'd I self medicated, would that affect anything when I do to do my lab work?

Ok, sounds like your rating came back at 80%.  Good job.

As far as labs for your medical issues, I don't think anything you or your doctors need too help you medically will have impact at all with you VA compensation.

Remember, the VA health system and the VA comp system are too separate things.

Get the help you need and don't worry about anything you did in the past.

Lean forward in the foxhole,

Hamslice

P.S. I got 80/5 this week also!

Congratulations to both of you!   Like yourself, I was very suprised when I got my rating.  I think its because we are in denial.    Nobody wants to get old and disabled.  I was a hard worker, and did not think of my self as a disabled person.  I struggled with my disabilities for years...decades...before they got so bad I applied.

Congrats on the claim bud, but please make sure that you are not using any form of illegal drugs. 1) In the long run is not good for you, can actually make your MH matters worse, 2) The VA has been known to use this against Veterans in a bad way.   Good luck and keep us posted. God Bless!!!
