C&P Exam Through VA Contractor QTC Medical Services

Question

Hello,

I'm currently rated 30% for  major  depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. I recently filed a claim to request an increase. I had my regular C&P physical exam on 10/23/17 and my psych exam on 11/20/17 through a VA contracted company called "QTC Medical Services".

I just received my decision letter and am angry, frustrated, and confused. The VA increased my major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder to 100% as of 10/23/17 (date of my exam). They then knocked it back down to 30% as of 11/20/17 (the date of my psych exam). WTF??

The way I interpret this is that the regular VA doctor who conducted my regular C&P health exam on 10/23/17 felt that my disability was so severe to warrant a 100% rating. Then 4 weeks later on 11/20/17, the person who conducted my psych exam (through QTC Medical Services) decided that I was miraculously cured and recommended my rating be reduced from 100% back down to 30%. Seriously????

The psych exam I received through QTC was an absolute joke! It only lasted about 15 - 20 minutes. The guy was rude, condescending, and acted like I was wasting his time. Has anybody else out there dealt with this company??

How on earth is it possible for an examiner from an outside contracted company spend 15-20 minutes interviewing me...have the authority to trump and override the decision and recommendations of the VA doctor who did my initial C&P health exam and my personal therapist who I've been seeing for 7 years now???!

If anyone out there can explain this to me...I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!

I AM NOT SURE I UNDERSTAND THIS?

UNTIL THIS VETERAN GETS US SOME MORE INFO  and the results of his QTC PTSD Exam.

and yes what is VA Saying Here??

 They give a 100% rating for? &

30 Days later take it away?....

he should get a proposal to reduced  and an explanation as why?..and his right to Appeal  within 30 days and appeal this....it maybe 60 days , but I think when I had a proposal to reduce because of a VA Dr. trying to take away my benefits....I had 30 days to Appeal..if not within 30 days they are subject to reduce his compensation and some times S.C.

It was a big deal back then 1999  Flip Helig was helping me ( Aka Phillip Rogers.) here on Hadit...but Flip has retired from Hadit  he was very good with this type problems and with SSDI.

Rocket says on last PTSD Exam  from QTC the Dr says its not 100%...If this is information is off e benefits  its unreliable .

Maybe he should call his R.O. & ask what is going on???

My policy for my own claim(s) is to research the matter. Check the internet for related cases i.e. decisions from BVA and courts. Look for a precedent in a matter related to your particular concerns. Then make sure you appeal in a timely manner and share your research if you like in the appeal. I am talking in general terms of the way I have handled my own claim.

If you don't feel comfortable conducting the research, contact a VSO, VA Accredited agent, or VA Accredited attorney Keep in mind that the latter two may charge you a contingent fee.

Good Luck!

I went to QTC services today for my spondylosis. I'm at 40% right now. The doctor told me after my exam that he gave me a 50%? Am I to understand that's what he suggests to the VA what I should be rated for???  Thanks.

It is the rating specialist (rater) that gives you a rating % not the C&P Examiner.

He could have meant that you should be increase to 50%  if so the rater will take a close look at your rating chart for this  S.C. Disability  if your 40% now and a 60% totally combined &   if increase is approved  for 50% and keeps you from working  you may want to request IU.

Sometimes the rater will give you the IU..If not  you should request it be awarded if you can't work.

That's my goal. I'm already on SS plus I still have to get a test for hearing loss plus I submitted a letter from my 2 counselors stating that I have a major depressive disorder. This has got to somehow get me to the top of the hill. Thanks Buck.
