Is a NP ok for IMO?

Question

I am very confused. I have a NP as a PCP. I also see a NP most of the time when I can't see my Spine DR. I am having my Spine NP write an IMO because the DR refuses. I was told by a DAV rep that I should not have a NP write the letter even though she is experienced with nerve and spinal conditions. He said the VA will give it as much weight as if I wrote it... Any ideas?

Both can legally be primary care providers. Doctors specialize , Nps dont. They've already done the equivalent of med school, though shorter,  while getting their Masters in nursing, while med school for doctors is 4 yrs premed in anything and then specialization in med school and rotations. I have an np and a doctor in the immediate family- the only difference is their path they use to get there, clinical hours, specialization or not, and letters after their names.

A lot of times it depends on what their opinion is on?

I  Had a certified N.P.  Who worked at the VA Urology Clinic  he made his opinion that the P.T.S.D. Meds I was on contributed to my E.D.....They used his medical notes,  Had he not been certified in urology  They probably would not.

you might want to listen to the last Hadit Radio show from Jan 23 2020, Alex Talks about how they use the wording in their reason and bases of the decision denials  and that matters 100%

It in the hadit archives   just click on podcast at the top of the page  and then once you get to the old shows clink on the ;last one  it should be the first one in live  for the Jan 23rd Show..I listen to it last night.

What was an interesting subject Alex brought up was  how they use these words in a denial this was a hip-c claim  the denial reason from a veteran trying to get his hip-c service connected because he caught it in the service.

''service connection for hip-c  not established ''Acute treated and resolved this disability    that is not right..but you might want to go to asknod-blog and read  the P.S. Note he wrote up about it  or listen to the podcast show

it was earth shattering to say the least.
