DeeAdams
I called the VA today to check on my retro pay form my disability increase 60-90% retro to Apr 2019. The lady informed me that the audits are conducted quarterly only and I will receive any funds due after that....The date of my decision letter was Aug 10 2020, which mean I will not receive the retro pay until Oct 2020. I asked her about that statement on the award letter which states"If payments are due. you will receive your first payment, if not already in receipt of payments, within 7-10 days of this notice. As mentioned, my notice was dated 10 Aug 2020. I did asked her about the 7-10 day payment....She stated they just put that in the letter.....I thanked her for that information.......Has anyone else be informed of this? This a new change to retro payments?
Moderator pacmanx1 Posted August 29, 2020 Moderator Share Posted August 29, 2020 Something went wrong with post. Normally VA would inform a veteran that his/her award letter would be received in 7-10 days and the actual retro would be received a lot sooner. Have you checked your bank account? If you are retired there may be a few more steps in it but keep an eye on your bank account. ShrekTheTank
Lead Moderator ShrekTheTank Posted August 29, 2020 Lead Moderator Share Posted August 29, 2020 I agree something is off here. Once they make the change, the latest i have had to wait was until the first when my normal check came in. I would keep an eye on your bank as it could happen any time. HadIt.com Elder MikeR Posted September 1, 2020 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted September 1, 2020 It does seem off. I once worked for DFAS as well, and have friends still there. They have terrible Audit support, and from what I gather it has gotten worse. This affects lots of functions at that agency. The organization has over 40 SES on staff for about 13,000 employees. It would be as if one Army base had 40 Generals. So it’s a sad cluster.

MikeDretired
If the VA makes an error on your disability percentage years earlier will they pay you the back pay? I went from 90% in Nov 2016 to 100% Aug 2020. The error was found by my VA Rep so he submitted a correction. The VA agreed and moved me to 100%. Will I get retro pay?
