TDIU strategy: getting approved for SSDI first

Rate this question

Question

I know that SSDI for SC disabilities means near automatic approval of TDIU but not the other way around. Does that mean that I should try to get SSDI first? If so, do you know of any good SSDI resources and forums? Thanks.

My suggestion is to go ahead and file for SSDI. SSDI goes by disability onset date and work credit hours. You may need a VOC REHAB SPECIALIST opinion that you cannot perform any type of employment. Keep in mind that a lot of initial claims are denied and have to get an attorney.  This is normal for SSA but once/if you get denied get an attorney and file an appeal. You just hurt your own claim by not filing sooner.
