0 Moderator brokensoldier244th Posted August 2, 2021 Moderator Share Posted August 2, 2021 Its on your code-sheet- which is the other half of the rating. You get the narrative that explains the rating, the codesheet goes into your file. SOmetimes you decision letter will say "no more exams...." or something to that effect but its only going to talk about the contentions on that particular claim. For an overall picture you need to see your codesheet. A vsr can pull it up in VBMS (your electronic version of your Cfile). Or you can request your Cfile but that is taking forever right now- literally. Also, incidentally, I PM'd you a few days ago. Check your private messages. 0 Moderator broncovet Posted August 2, 2021 Moderator Share Posted August 2, 2021 Yes, unfortunately, VA "says it in code" which makes it difficult for us to take a VA letter to someone like your local tax assessor. Terms used for P and T are OFTEN: A). NO FUTURE EXAMS ARE SCHEDULED B). ELIGIBILITY FOR CHAPTER 35 DEA IS ESTABLISHED. Since most people dont "speak VA", they often dont know that the above phrases are code for P and T. This, of course, is frustrating for Vets who take a letter to their tax assessor which says, "no future exams are scheduled" and you try to convince them its "VA speak" for P and T. Now, they have a letters section in ebenefits that does a better job spelling it out. We used to have to take a VARO decision letter in to the treasurer, and I had a hard time convincing him those terms mean P and T. Im not the only one who was frustrated about this. The VA still hasnt changed the wording to include "permanent and Total" in the decisions but at least you can print an ebenefits letter and not take months or years for VA to verify you are P and T like in the old days. I see this as just one more "unnecessary frustration" for Veterans, which is somewhat solved with ebenefits. However, "not every Veteran" can print an ebenefits letter, many do not have technical skills, and not all of them always even speak English well. 0 pwrslm
There is a benefit letter that state permanent (yes or no). Look through the letters from VA.gov. The one that is titled Benefit Summary and Service Verification has it. Edited August 5, 2021 by pwrslm
