Claim increase

Rate this question

Remisdad

Question

I filed for an increase on my left thumb 20%, left index finger 10%, left middle finger 20%, left ring finger 10%, left little finger 0%, & a new claim for trigger finger of left middle finger.  Everything printed plainly and clearly legible. I checked va.gov to see if it had made it to initial review & this screenshot is what they had down. It doesn't make sense to me. Do they just not know how to type or do they just not give a damn?  I plan on keeping an eye on it for a few days to see if it changes. And if it doesn't I guess I'll figure out who I need to call. 900647910_Screenshot_20220303-084935_SamsungInternet.thumb.jpg.408b32aadc95af3be01cfa487fc719ba.jpg

My advice is not to worry.  It does sound like there are a couple of typos, but, most of us make those, (who type very much).

Most importantly, VA.gov and ebenefits are notoriously unreliable, not up to date and inaccurate.  Did you send your copy of the claim certified mail, return receipt requested, along with keeping a copy?  We recommend you do that, just in case.

It would not be the first time VA has ever messed something up, nor will it be the last.

Yes, dustoff, I just wish VA.gov or ebenefits worked that well for all.  One person explained that VA.gov and ebenefits are "NOT" updated by va employees, but by a third party (probably contracted by VA), and there are often "missing links" when this happens.

See if you can get on the old sight.  Sometimes it works without trying to send you to MyVA.  It's a lot better layout.

And, don't worry about what they write, just make sure the number is right, i.e., if you claimed 4 things, there is 4 things there.

I claimed one new condition and 3 secondaries.  When it first popped up, it said 3 new and 1 secondary.  Whatever.

Basically, if it's a new condition secondary to a already service connected condition it should be secondary, but I think the person putting the information on the page really dosen't understand how the claims work, i.e., original, secondary, assumed, etc..

What I will always say, claim it (send your best shot), wait, wait, wait until you get your rating letter.  Anything in-between is spinning your wheels.

I got a supprise last time,

Hamslice

However, I did check Ebenifits everyday for 4 months.  So, there is that.

I used to see these typos all the time when I worked there. The claims assistants would type these in to enter them into the system. The VSRs would clean them up once they started working on them.
