@jamescripps2 Thank you for posting this. It is a foundation to show others what is possible. My father served in Vietnam for one year in the late 60s. I have tried to advise him to file for years, but he wanted to put the war behind him as an avoidance mechanism. Now that the AO related issues are becoming worse, he finally agreed to file. Awaiting responses from the VA so I can take him to exams and so forth. Thank you for posting this.

Make Shure that you file his intent to file, VA form 21-0996. That will mark his effective date, His retro will go back to the date that you filed the 0996.

Here is what my AO and Vietnam Combat 1970 did for me since 1985.

IHD/CAD Ischemic Heart Disease 30% due to AO

PTSD 70%

OSA Sleep Apnea 50% due to PTSD

GERD 60% due to PTSD

TINNITUS 10% due to Nam combat

TDIU P&T due to PTSD (over 25 years)

SMC-S due to IHD/CAD and OSA Apnea, PTSD, GERD, TINNITUS

100% P&T due to all of the above

Hypertension due to AO (soon to be awarded in 2023)

I may have left out something

You don't have diabetes yet?  Many of us have the big three....DMII, CAD, and HTN.  They all interact and make everything worse.
