CPAP battery backup ?

Rate this question

Riplip

Question

Hello, I have had my CPAP machine for about 8 months now and can't sleep without it. It helps me so much. I was wondering if anybody has a battery backup system in case of loss of power in the middle of the night? I lost power due to a storm last night and I just waited it out the couple hours but lost all that sleep. I also know the VA has grants all over the place but you have to ask the right people. If that is possible, that info. would be outstanding as well. Thank you

I contacted my VA sleep med/respiratory department, and they sent me a battery backup, as I share your concern.

Also, my local utility knows my health condition, and, therefore, my area has "high priority" to get the power back up pronto.

Friends and family in/near my town often lose power and its exceptionally rare for me to.

Check your PM.

No kidding? Cool! Ive been looking at solar charged battery power stations with 12v inverters. I didnt know I could request a backup from VA (or at least ask). Thanks, Bronc

So I sent a request for a battery backup to my sleep medicine email through healthyvet and they said they don't give out battery backups. I then sent the same request to patient advocate email. The same guy answers back with the same answer. Then he tells me I can try prosthetics but we only give them out to life safety requests. I then told him that people die from sleep apnea and I have a chance to not wake up if my CPAP stops working. I also told him if he couldn't walk down the hall, help me out and ask then I need the email to that person. I hate being rude. I can't believe every single thing to get done at the VA is such a hassle. Sorry Rant is over. Have a good day 🙂

Not all VAMC's and VARO's make the exact same decisions, it seems like it is a luck of the draw.

My intentions are to help, my advice maybe wrong, be your own advocate and know what is in your C-File and the 38 CFR that governs your disabilities and conditions.

Do your own homework. No one knows the veteran’s symptoms like the veteran. Never Give Up.

I do not give my consent for anyone to view my personal VA records.
