Thanks To Berta
I followed your advice and figured out the VA query section at the VA website. What a rats maze. After over four months waiting on my award letter I finally found out my file is now in Gretna, La. Don't know how much longer they will take on the award letter but at least someone in the VA knows where my file is. I guess I can call that progress.. Thanks again for the info Berta. Moe

Auth For Emergency Trmt Non Va- Now Getting Big Bill
Dear Hadit Members: 1) Thanks very much for help with prior issues, still waiting for response. 2) Seeking help understanding how to get VA to cover emergency treatment in NON VA facility- 150 miles from VA facility, hometown, for SC problem, acute. Here is the highly abridged version: Bleeding orally and rectally, losing bile, dizzy. Call VA instead of 911. VA says am authorized to go to a) call 911 b) get ambulance c) be seen at local private facility (3 miles) while the VA hosp is 150 or so miles. After about 6 months, I get no bill, just a notice being turned over to collections for about 3000 dollars. Apparently the VA did pay for the ambulance…

Medical Question - New Claim On Severed Ligament
I filed VA claim for a severed scapholunate ligament. It was reatached and after physical therapy I have limited range of motion on my wrist and also have pain. VA only awarded me 10% total. 10% for the dorsiflexion of the wrist less than 15 degrees and 10% for palmar flexion limited in line with the forearm. I am going to do a NOD. The interestering part is that they said "the Xray showed degenerative changes of the proximal row of carpal bones but this finding was not related to the condition at issue." So does this mean I need to file a new claim? For arthritis? Any timelimits? Thanks, Joe

Question For Bertha Or Anyone
This is very offbase but is it possible to call a cue on the VA for educational denial? Point in question, My wife has been attending a distant learning school from Quincy ,Mass. for nearly 3 years. The Buffalo ,N.Y. VARO is in charge of cetifacations . They have all of a suden dropped this school from their rolls as no longer being qualified because they are home based in London, England. Does the VA have the right to do this after she has been attending for 3 yrs. and only has another year to finish ? She is still entiled to another year of Ch. 35 benfits,

Question On Reopening A Claim Or Filing For Secondary.
Last year I was diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I am now going to reopen my originally denied claim for "neck Strain". Should I apply for the "neck strain" which would be a reopen, or file for radiculopathy in relation to Degenerative Disc Disease and Herniation which would be a new claim. Also is there a way to also word the claim to be rated secondary as an injury from a SC injury. Last summer I fell out of my attic, when I was getting some luggage down to go on vacation. Wife wasn't home, and I flipped one and a half times landing on the threshold to the stairs across my lower back, and my neck breaking 3 steps off of an aluminum folding stairs set. I've …

Helping A Vet Who's Dealing With An Asbetosis Claim.
I'm looking for a little information to help out here. I've got his ship name and service dates, have even found a log on the history of the ship. USS Robert L Wilson. Made by Bath Iron Works. I realize that he will never get any money from the company due to being a supplier to the Navy, but he's worried about getting cancer and the treatment for it. So wants to process his claim now. Extra steps I need to take would be appreciated to help have all the info on the original claim. Thanks for any help. I've got a feeling i'm going to be helping a few out with this one.
