Another Source For Lost Or Burned Military Records
Searching through the messages on the old site, I came across this from following a link in one of Allan Opie's posts (don't you just love his "matter-of-fact" posts!). I thought it might be good to post it again for those whose records burned in the '70s fire. State veterans bonus files a mine of data By DONNA MURRAY ALLEN Published October 30, 2003 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I discovered one of the best-kept secrets in the world of genealogical resources when I learned about the World War II bonus applications at the Pennsylvania State Archives in Harrisburg. The applications include the veteran's n…

Update And Advice
Several years ago I had some spine xrays taken at the VA which revealed that I had severe osteopenia of my spine. My VA doc told me this was probably due to the fact I have rods along my spine, which decreases my range of motion. He used the expression, "If you don't use it, you lose it." I had a bone density test but never found out the results. I submitted this evidence to the VA, but never received a disability rating for the osteopenia. I think they lumped it into something else. I was never treated for the osteopenia. Fast forward to present, I have since had my Medicare to kick in and I have been seeing non VA docs to treat my osteopenia. I have had another bone den…

Should I?
I have a few strange thoughts bouncing around, occassionally allow myself a little anger or fantasy, but I'm not a threat to anyone including myself. I have didged any chance to open up about any such thing because I don't want to risk the doc over-reacting. My rights to won a gun, even to keep my concealed weapons permit are more important to me than another SC and a bigger check. Should I elaborate and just let it all out? Or stick to the program. Not dangerous, just avoid people who may be or have demontrated that they are confrontational and aggressive. I prefer to spend an irrational amount of time in bed.

ptsd Aggravation Of Nsc
In many years I haven't seen too many claims that consider this facet of service connection. Within 38 CFR 3.310 (a) an "Increase in nonservice connected disability caused by aggravation from a service connected disability will also be service connected." (Allen V Brown ,7 Vet App,4391995) Here an example: the vet's SC PTSD aggravated his NSC HBP and the HBP was service connected. http://www.va.gov/vetapp05/files2/0510693.txt Just as a medication needed for an SC condition can cause additional nsc BUT secondary disability that can be rated as SC, many other conditions that are NSC disabilities can be caused or aggravated by SC. Say you have a SC back probl…

Award Letter Question
A friend just got an award letter from the VA- we cant figure this out and they didnt send the check yet- Monthly entitlement amount $1,930 Oct 1, 1995 effective date adjustment 1,979 Dec 1, 1995 cost of living adjustment 2,036 Dec 1, 1996 " """"""" and so forth up to Dec 1, 2004 rate which is $2,429 (but for 2005) When they say Dec 1, 1995 it means the 12 month 1996 rate-right? and if we take each Dec rate it is for the following year? AS I see it they owe him $1,930 for Oct and Nov and Dec 1995, then the 12 months for 2,036 -1996 rate and so forth? When he gets the check we will compare …
