  1. Thank you ALL..for the kind words....

I checked ebennies today and my claim completed.

I downloaded commissary letters and it stated on the letter..."This TOTAL disability is considered PERMANENT. You are NOT scheduled for future exams."

    YIPEEEEEEEE!!

Does anyone know if I will still have to fill out income sheet each year when this is considered TP?

  2. On March 11, I was rated for 70% PTSD--30%IHD--10%Tinnitus, 80% SC. After that award I lost my job for reasons related to my PTSD.

On March 24, I filed a FDC seeking an increase in PTSD rating and or IU, when I filed for increase I included the forms, completed and signed, from my employer for the last 5 years that are required for IU consideration.

The VA determined that I did not need another C&P as I had one for the earlier claim on Feb 18, 2014

My claim went to "Prep for Decision", on April 24

Today my Rep called me, and said I had been awarded 100%SC for PTSD.!!

I don't know how this breaks down as far as if it is IU-TDIU-TP, or any other combination. As soon as I get this info I will post it. I am shocked at how quickly this got through. I am really happy that we sent ALL the employer information with the claim. I guess it pays to send what is needed to help them make a decision...

I thank everyone for all of the advice, and support!! I want to especially thank VELDRINA for her friendship, advice, support, and help in making me understand the process better, and Veldrina gave me a shoulder to cry on when I needed it the most!! Thank you Veldrina!! YOU ARE THE BEST!! Thank you EVERYONE!!

So...YIPPEEEEEE I wish everyone the best in every way. I pray everyone gets good decisions...I will be on this forum every day learning, and trying to be as supportive to you as you have been to me!!

    Now its time to celebrate!!!!!

  4. Berta:

    Thank you for your reply.

sometimes I get ahead of myself and word things wrong...I have a 14 year history with the VA, medically and for psychiatric. I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2003, and my IHD was awarded in 2011.

My VA psychiatrist, my VA pcp, and my VA Cardiologist have all made it a matter of record that they are related and how it affects my ability to work. I am currently in counseling, groups and 1 on 1s for the ptsd. What I and my VA Cardiologist are concerned with is how the symptoms of the ptsd are aggravating my SC IHD. Of course my VA doctors are looking at other things that would cause the shortness of breath and chest pains especially when I go I into full panic mode.

In short, all of my VA doctors have made it clear to me that all this is tied together, which all have made part of my VA record, and they are all in unanimous agreement that that the ptsd, ihd and the combined affects, prevent me from working.

Berta...thank you for all you do and I always look for your posts, as they are always supportive and informative. I wish you all the best!!

    Greg

So my VA drs, all three have made the connection and all have to put it simply, said,"YOU CAN'T WORK", and my VA medical records indicate that.

  5. Looking for some clarification. I am currently 80% SC, and I have filed a claim for an increase/tdiu.

I understand that if I am increased to 100% sc I would get commissary privileges. If they keep me at 80% , but approve tdiu for me, would I get commissary privileges?

I am currently, 70%ptsd, 30%ihd, and 10% tinnittus. I am seeking an increase to 100% ptsd tp or tdiu.

I am unemployed and my pcp says ptsd issues prevent employment. So I think I have strong case for 100% tp, but VA being VA, may just give tdiu.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  6. Just got the word from my rep:

    Awarded 70% ptsd

    Awarded 10% tinnittus

    Already 30% IHD

    Total SC..80%

Filed claim on 24 October 2013

    C&P on 18 February 2014

    Completed...Today

Now I will wait for brown envelope, retro pay, and then work on IU or TDIU or see if I can 100% scheduler.

Anyway, im excited and happy the wait is over and I think it all progressed in a very timely way. I am grateful for that. I thank all of you for your encouragement and support. I wish all the best and God speed to all of you and praying for success with all of your claims.

  7. Claim updated:

Just for fun I checked ebenefits, not really expecting any change...but lo and behold....

claim moved to " Preparation for Notification"...didnt think that would happen on a Saturday or maybe it was updated late last night. I doubt they work on Saturday..but who knows..

Anyway thats my good news for the day, hopefully I will know results next week..

All the best everyone and have a good weekend.

  8. My claim for Tinnittus, and Ptsd finally moved today. It went from gathering evidence to Prep for a Decision.

I had C&P on February 18. I saw the tinnitus report and that looks good, and late last night I saw ptsd report, and that looked good as well. Im trying to figure out how to print just the ptsd report and not the whole file.

I hope it doesnt take another 3 months to move to the next step, so I will get a big book and start reading!! I need to stay busy and not get stressed out waiting. Patience is not one of my virtues!! I will keep everyone posted of any movement.

Iwish everyone all the best, and speedy decisions on everyone's claims. I have learned so much from everyone on this forum..

Thank you for your help and encouragement. !!

  9. When I had my PTSD C&P evaluation last week, after the ptsd part was done, she had me do a "Beck Depression Evaluation. It was over 320 questions and took about an hour to do. I looked at my records at myhealth to see if anything was in my records for the ptsd exam..(none posted), but this Beck Depression evaluation was there. The range for this is 0-63, with anything over 29 considered to be "severe depression" . My score was 52...so not only severe but also at the high end of the scale.

My question: is anyone familiar with this test ? Will the results play any part in the rating process? In otherwords, does this test mean anything other than telling me what I already know ? Or is this one tool the Dr will use in report to RO?

    Thanks........greg

  10. I have been visiting this site for a while now, and I decided that this site is the best place to be to learn to navigate the VA system and learn the do's and don't s. Seems to be a lot of incredibly smart veterans on this site and I know I can trust your advice and guidance. What I like the most is the genuine support and encouragement that you give each other. That is a great testament to the character and individual integrity of each and every one of you.

I served with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam 69-72. I am 30% SC for AO relating to cardiac. On the 18th of February I had my C&P for hearing and ptsd. Just waiting to see how that all goes. I do know that when the rating comes, if I am not in agreement with the decision, I will seek you out and ask for your advice. It really is a difficult process, but I will get through it.

Also, if anyone has any thoughts or experience with Boston RO, please shout at me. They took almost 2 years for the AO SC, but these seem to be moving faster as all of my history is a matter of record at various VA..s.

Anyway, enough about me. I THANK ALL VETERANS AND ALL FAMILY MEMBERS for your service and the sacrifices you have made. I will pray for each and everyone of you. I pray for your good health, happiness, long life, and for sure you getting all the compensations you and your family deserve and have earned.

All the best, and I will be reading your posts!!!

    Greg

  11. I am new to this site and this will be my first post. I am a Vietnam Veteran that served with the 101st from jan71-jan72. I am 30% SC for heart issues. Yesterday, I had C&P exams at Northampton VAMC for hearing, tinnitus and also PTSD. I pretty much know what to expect for the hearing exam, and I have agood idea as to what to expect for the PTSD part. The ptsd exam lasted 2 hrs...I left nothing off the table and told the Dr things I havent been able to talk about ever. I expect to see the report in a few days, but the Dr indicated to me that I me that her report would reflect PTSD at an extreme level. My question is...does the Regional Office always take the recommendation as written by the DR or are they inclined to put there own interpretation on things and possibly come in at a lower rating? I have been in the VA system for 14 years. All of my history is documented with the VA. I take my medicines, make my appointments, and have a good relationship with all of my Drs.

I have enjoyed reading the posts on this site and listening to your experiences and how many of you have handled the many obstacles that are put in your path to get the compensation everyone seems to deserve. What impresses me the most though is...the support that eveyone gives to all the members of this site. I look forward to reading more from you and I wish everyone all the best. I thank all of you for your service!!!
