  1. NEWS FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE U.S. SENATE COMMITTEE ON VETERANS’ AFFAIRS NEW EMPLOYMENT TRAINING AND JOB PLACEMENT PROGRAM FOR DISABLED VETERANS Audio available Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs July 27, 2006 Media contact: Jeff Schrade 202-224-9093 [Audio of Senator Craig's comments runs about 3 minutes. He is introduced by Ken Smith of the Military of the Purple Heart Service Foundation.] (Washington, DC) The chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs expressed strong support today for a new program which is providing paid training and, so far, 100 percent job placement for combat wounded and disabled veterans. "These men and women come home, maybe not whole physically, but mentally and physically they can become phenomenally capable and productive citizens, and what you’re offering does just that," said Chairman Larry Craig (R-Idaho). "The Purple Heart Service Foundation does something for America’s veterans that is important, necessary and unique." Since its training program began last year, the Foundation has trained nearly 100 disabled and combat wounded veterans over the Internet, for jobs in the information industry. The goal is to train and place into jobs several thousand veterans by this time next year, and thousands more in the coming years. Veterans who qualify for the training receive $11 an hour during the 600-hour educational process – earning $6,600. Qualifications are simple: A veteran must have a VA assigned disability rating, and a copy of his or her DD-214. A Purple Heart award is not required. Interested individuals should call the Purple Heart Service Foundation at 1-800-720-9596 or go online at http://www.purpleheartfoundation.org/job_training.asp. After 15 weeks of training, veterans are able to work at home via the Internet and earn from $15 to $22 an hour. Major companies have been hiring veterans who have completed the program, including HomeDepot, FedEx, JetBlue, and Dell Computer. The program is accredited by Northern Virginia Community College and has the support of the U.S. Department of Veterans of Affairs. "I've always understood that government cannot be all things to all people, but when you combine the private sector along with government programs and opportunities, we can be all that we need to be for these young veterans coming home," Craig said. One veteran, Bill Edwards, was so impressed with the effort he presented a check for $100,000 to the Foundation. Edwards, a former U.S. Marine, was awarded the Purple Heart for combat injuries sustained in Vietnam. He is now the CEO of Mortgage Investors Corporation, based in St. Petersburg, Florida, and is encouraging other companies to get involved. 2. How do you demonstrate a biased opinion and inadequate examination. Had an ortho exam everything was stated as normal. The examination took place and my chair the goinometer was not used .My pain was never discussed nor documented. Would I be able to use this decision in support of my claim. Delker v. Maass, 843 F. Supp. 1390 (D.Or. 1994. I would appreciate any suggestions.

  4. I am confused is the DVA saying that tinnitus is a head issue and not an ear. It's true that tinnitus is subjective but it is related to the inner ear. I may have ringing in one ear and not the other.

  7. Have you been rated for 5 or more years at the condition they propose to reduce if not they have to show sustained improvement. The examination has to be as complete as the one when you were granted the rating.

  12. Jay-- I am P&T the reason they came after me is that I qualify for R1. So they figured if they killed my 100 percent then i wouldn't qualify for a higher A/A. Also you can't build on HB whereas you can with A/A.
  13. Jay-- Glad to hear that you were successfull at getting her P&T back. The truth of the matter is she should never had to endure this crap anyway. As for her A/A she is entitled because she needs help to protect her they forget that this also entitles someone if they are unable to protect themselves. I have been back and forth with these idiots. They had me reduced to 90 percent and had taken my A/A. They retracted on the reduction and have reccomended HB. I am still fighting so now they are starting all of these C&P again.
  14. They said they had evidence that I had improved this was given to them by a over zealous DRO who misread my PFT. I am working with a SO but they can't stop these idiots from harrassing me.
  15. Rick-- I understand how you feel I just went thru this and I have been P&T since 1998. Not only was I scheduled for an examination but they proposed to reduce me. They changed their mind on reducing me but changed my SMC I am still awaiting a decision. Now they have scheduled me again for another examination. These "IDIOTS" don't read the regulation or are trying to get rid of vets by causing them undu anxiety. I must admit they had me pretty darn upset but my husband reminded me of the facts and told me to play their little game.
