  2. Hello All, After having Sat and Sunday maintence down time for Ebenefits this weekend I had to change the log in format to the new page DD page . Change my password ...delete cookies.... Ok ,,,so then you can go and check on "View my Status" tab, then click Compensation and Pension (C & P) Claims, and BINGO a new tab under one of my claims which is listed as Preparation for Decision, Status colume and then to the right normally should say Under the far right tab "Actions" ,,,,Links say "View Required Evidence" , where I happen to have 2 claims in preparation for decision. The new link above these now says "Upload Documentation",,,,,,, Folks , I believe this is a new feature that was just added to the Ebenefits . It does not appear on my other issues of dependency ,,,under review with Actions Column and the FOIA claim marked under status as claim received and also under Actions column for this one also only has View Received Evidence. SOoooooooo... it appears , Veterans as of today have some ability to UPLOAD DOCUMENTATION as listed on my sections under the STATUS column marked PREPARATION FOR DECISION. It says you are limited with maximum size is 5MB and valid document file is GIF , TIFF, TIF, JPEG, JPG, BMP or TXT and also says for more information ask IRIS and in step 2 of 2 submit your documents with that tab available to also "print this page",,,,OR "save a screen capture for your records". I would check your ebenefits accounts and see for those that have pending claims , IF you also see this new link in the ACTIONS column to the far right. I am not sure if this is only going to appear on STATUS that has PREPARATION for Decision or what . It does not appear on the other issues listed that are not at different status phases. I hope this helps and any ideas or suggestions from any who have uploaded something to Ebenefits , I am sure will help our members see the new change. Personally , I am still very skeptical of this ability , because the Veteran is counting on being able to send the VARO new evidence for their claims. This is all part of the "New Paperless" VA that they are pushing . To me it seems that if you cannot upload it or the system has ,,,,,as Berta and Carlie call GLITCHES , then the Veteran is in for a heap of trouble and it could end up as bad as shreddergate. Not being able to get documents or evidence uploaded. No , I am not sending them ANYTHING right now ,,,,,as we all know that if a Veteran has a claim in the process ,,,,,,, it could jeopardize the wait time and hmmmmmmm put you back down the long list to the bottom. Anyone knowing more information would be helpful so as to alert our other members to this new feature. NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C.
  3. Hello Ask,,, Yes , you are another one....... The VA knew AO was going to get us. The ones from Vietnam they at least are starting to do something about ...... 40 to 50 yrs later. My problem was because I was not in Vietnam but outside of Vietnam. It will take me the process to prove it but I have all the evidence I need . Lets hurry and get this thing to court. It is about admitting to where all the places DOD used it and not just in Vietnam. What a slow ride this is. Thanks Asknod for all you do and the help for our Veterans. This is a team effort to help ALL of our Veterans and leave noone behind. NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C.
  4. Have to bump this to get the AO veterans to look at the bases in US where AO was used. NEVER GIVE UP . God Bless, C.C.
  5. Hello Swabbie,,,,,, I welcome you aboard. No problem about thinking you hijacked the thread ,,,,, you fit right into it. I do want to say that you can file for an appeal for a higher rating/incorrect rating. I would point out that the Pulmonary Hypertension is 100% if it has the diagnostic code attached to it. Such as 6604 COPD or Restricted lung disease 6845 that is rateable service connected. AND that a diagnosis from Heart Cath OR Echo cardiogram has been also diagnosed. Having the CAD/IHD I only see that it could be secondary and then it will be rateable that way , but normally not at 100%, as the regs dictate. The VA is very defensive of any PH award and usually requires BVA award. Meaning the Regional Offices really do not want to look at it and like to turn their back on it. I am at this stage and waiting. With Service Connected COPD and Restricted Lung Disease and nonservice connected IHD , the PH was diagnosed with both Heart Cath and Echo Cardiogram. CONVIENTLY MISSED by VARO soooooooo its back to an NOD and pointing the test and diagnosis to it. Hopefully you will be treated fairly and not put on the back burner like me. I am hoping some others will join in ........Jbasser is very knowledgable about the PH and the evaluations and the process concerning it . Hopefully he'll join in with some other thoughts to. NEVER GIVE UP . God Bless, C.C.
  6. Thank you Relpats for your service and the kind words. I think John has a very valid point that a Vet can make as good a case for himself that trying to appoint a VSO ......... and hope you get one of the good and sincere ones. OR..... you can also remember that NOW a Veteran does have some tools were as about 8-10 years ago it probably was not so. That tool is.................HADIT.com ...... because you can get some answers from many who have either been down that road....or from those that know the law....the 38CFRs. Also ,,,,you have to be your best advocate and study and try to learn as much as you can. At least you can find out what your next step should be and what are your choices. I believe that the Veteran Service Organizations are more of group to have some type of social standing than to actually help .....ALL of our Veterans ,,,,,,,,equally. This goes back to VSOs are many but finding a real good one is very hard and they usually don't last long.NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C.
  7. Hello Chuck, Ditto..... I believe all of our Veterans with just a short while of dealing with the VA find out that your statements are right on. John.... your statement is interesting but sadly ,,,,,,your also right on. Oh yes......since we Veterans represent the largest force of Terrorist ....... have you looked overhead lately...... I thought I saw a drone circling my house..... I just did a bunch of work on the house..... Hope our jdams don't find there mark here. After all it is the Veterans that represent our final line of defense of our country...... All veterans gave an oath....... “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.” I hope we all remember and don't think that because we are Americans that things could never change. I believe this oath is also going to involve the VA as the 38 CFRs are part of the that oath. I don't want to get into politics because that is not the issue.....we all have seen the problems go beyond pointing fingers at politicians on both sides of the fence. The problems just did not start a few years ago. They have been going on for a long , long , time as history of the VA and its problems will show. We as Veterans just need to be vigilant and remember that the VA is not really doing what it is suppose to be doing. President Lincoln had a good idea but it sure has gone in another direction as we have all seen in our fights and battles for Veterans rights. It is up to each one of us to carry on the battle and make sure we take care of all of our Veterans regardless of the problems I listed above in the first part of the post. I am sure my list will be longer next year and others can add to it as Berta was pointing out. We must NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C.
  8. Hello All, I am not really wanting to get into a difficult argument over Veteran Service Organizations. I DO want to give my personal experience with the DAV and how it applied to me during the early part of my claim(s). I will also point out some problems and things that have come up with DAV and other VSOs that perhaps do not have the best interest of the Veteran at heart in the long run and some important facts that have not yet been brought up in this post. First , I would look at the grade received from the report that investigated and gave GRADES for the amount of money taken in or budgeted or both that spent it wisely or unwisely on the Veterans causes. I have also included the ABC news report to show more of the problems of waste not just with DAV but other organizations. But it clearly shows some problems. http://www.military-money-matters.com/charities-ratings.html#axzz2KXvRLBxu http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=3843367&affil=knxv Once I finally got thru with my testing and medical exams and doctors opinions and lengthy research , I filed my claim with the VA ,,,,and the Disabled American Vets was my POA. I became sick in 1997 but did not start into the VA treatment or the VHA until 2001 or so and did not get all my testing and opinions until about 2003-2005. I used a supervisor with DAV in another city ,,,,and he was excellant at knowing what he was doing and helpful during the initial year of filing . I then used our local Vet Center but was extremely disappointed in the way the representation went and followups. I would like to point out that the DAV was not allowed to keep any records I gave them to file or followup with and the number of veterans they were trying to help with claims issues was appaling and LONG WAIT TIMES. Sometime it took 3-4 hours just to see someone. Any record they turned in concerning my claims had to be DESTROYED ..... The DAV could never remember my claim or what stage I was at , nor was I able to properly continue the claim and it got so far out of reach and so mistake laden that I knew I was going to be in trouble. I must point out that the VSOs there could not possibly remember each Veterans claim. It just was physically impossible due to the huge numbers of Veterans they were trying to help. After an SVR show with Mr. Lou James , VSO with the Vietnam Veterans of America, and I was a call in , he asked me to contact him after the show. After the show I called him at his number and after much discussion of my claim and the EVIDENCE and MEDICAL REPORTS and TEST he asked to represent me and change my POA from DAV to VVA. That show is probably still archived here. Next he came to my house and spent all weekend with me going over the claim and correcting many , many mistakes , and I believe this was in perhaps 2007 or 2008. He knew the regulations and procedures very , very well and got my claim at least back on track after the major derailment of the DAV. He was awesome and we fast became very close friends over the years. I was his last Veteran that he represented and because of his own sickness , he advised me to try and get a lawyer because of the new changes in the POA law that allowed Veterans to hire a Lawyer after initial decisions from June 21, 2007 to present. I followed his advise and still have a lawyer. So , I would say that in my instance and personal use of DAV , I had a very good rep initially but he could not continue the claim and then my next set of DAV reps were very shakey and their process was detrimental to my claim. Mainly because of being overworked. I believe that every Veteran Service Organization has good Veteran Service Officers and bad ones. And it is hard to find a good one . They are usually overworked and in great demand. You have already read some of the post to your question and seen that some are just plain arraogant and others are fine people trying to really help. I would view the reports I furnished in the links to find out the grades and use that to help you make your decision. You are wise to seek advice now because when I was in your shoes and early in my study and research and filing of my claim , I did not realize the process that the VA had and the 38 CFRs. , BVA decisions , or the M21 schedulars. It is important to first grasp that this VA Process is extremly complex and has no real simplicity to it and requires much SELF TRAINING and SELF RESEARCH. Choosing organizations to join , should not be based on your claim or service to your country but more of a personal nature. VERY IMPORTANT TO NOT forget that the Disabled American Veterans were TOTALLY and STILL are against a Veteran using a lawyer to represent them. WHAT!!!!!! http://www.veteranstoday.com/2010/03/17/attorneys-fight-for-veterans-against-va-and-vsos/ The main reason they did not want the law change on June 21, 2007 is that this keeps the Veteran in THEIR system, under THEIR control and its all about the numbers and money from Congress and of course VA budgets to them. Now , if you can understand that the importance of that change allowing legal representation,(LAWYER) in our POA and the law , you can see that a Veteran now has more of a chance of winning than with ANY service organization and will , without any doubt , knock off alot of the stalling and waiting for decisions from Regional Offices or from BVA. You having a good VA lawyer can stop the famous BVA and RO tactic of sending your claim to the INFAMOUS "blackhole" we know as the Appeals Management Center......or simply AMC. Our members know all too well of this stalling tactic the VA uses. Having a lawyer also means that the playing field is EVEN when in the appeals/nod phase ,,,because the Veterans Affairs Regional Offices have their team of Justice Department lawyers at their use. And I think noone would disagree that you choosing a Veteran Service Organization to rep you means you have just that ,,,,,,,no representation that is trained in VA LAW during the early part of a claim. What it means is simply , you are going up against their Lawyer who knows the law ,,,,and its an UNFAIR fight. Oh yes ,,,AFTER the very lengthy process you might get one of the Veterans Service Organization Lawyers to represent you , but at a cost of alot of TIME wasted and only at the end of process involving the Court system. Its the old story of "never bring a knife to a gunfight". I have been fighting with the VA for over 6 years and have won partially the claims at stake. It took a lawyer and not a VSO to get there in that amount of time. But it did take a VSO to try to get it back on track during the initial decision phase. With this being said , I would like to point out that we have some very fine VSOs at Hadit and unfortunately these folks are and have been spread too thin because of SHEER NUMBERS of Veterans that they are trying to take care of. I would also like for you to look at the opinions of the other posters to this topic and see that they vary because of the good or bad help they received from VSOs that they used. This topic , I feel is very important. If you look at the majority of the post on Hadit and realize that it almost always involves the BACKLOG and the waiting game for a favorable decision. This is what every Veteran is trying to shorten. You are your best advocate and I will say on the record that if it had not been for me finding HADIT.COM and getting the right opinions and learning from the advice and studing the laws and VA process , I would not be at the stage of the VA process that I am at now. I will be eternally thankful for all of the fine folks here at Hadit and for the friendships I have made and knowledge learned from them. This becomes a family issue to most of us. I hope this will help you to see some of the issues that have gone on for a long time with the VSOs overall. The links I posted should be viewed to properly see the larger picture and where some of the VSOs stand with trying to win your claims or loose it or prolong it. In every aspect whether you choose to have DAV or any service organization or even a lawyer to represent you , will require the Veteran to dig in and take the philosophy of NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C.
  9. Capt.

    Finally

Excellant news..... CONGRATULATIONS.... now let the stress out and try to make sure that you check available benefits for 100 percent. Lots of stuff to do to make sure the benefits will be completed. NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C.
  10. Boomer,,,, Without a doubt..... It has changed and the time period and the different problems now plaqueing VA is different now than say even 5 years ago ...... or 10 yrs or 20 yrs ago. Ups and downs for sure. And changing policies, laws , Regional Offices and Governmental leaders make the time curves and the graphs that show the swings of VA in areas of success and failures. It seems we are in the downward time curves and graphs on many of the issues that greatly affect our Veterans . Also ,,,,, VA has become more complicated than it was 10yrs. or 20 yrs ago. Always changing , slow to react or evolve or respond to its laws and directives. It is government and beaucracy at its best..........or in the present condition for its Vets............its worst. NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C.
  11. SERVE,,,,,, I agree with Teac. Besides being the right thing to do, it is not our countrys fault that befall the needs to protect those who live under its laws. It is a problem within a Department of the country that we must change , make known its problems, and have trust and faith that our system will cause changes to correct, no matter how small or big to those Departments that represent the heavy Laws and beliefs of those that live under its systems, laws and Departments. I would serve again without hesitation....... I would keep better records though,,,,,,knowing what I know now about the VA. Above all.....NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless , C.C.
  12. Hello All, I have been watching the post from so many of our members , old ones and alot of new ones. Watching the hearings from both house and senate, numerous news agencies and I am also seeing the problems with so many areas within the Veterans Affairs. After reading so many post from not just myself but members like Berta, Carlie, Jbasser, Boomer, Teac, Bronco, Asknod, 71m10, Sp4, Meghp0405 and many others who post specific articles and news links, I am seeing a terrible pattern. One that I believe we all can look at and say , this whole VA system is corrupt. It is so far gone that their is no answer to get any of the problems fixed. I am going to bring up just a few of the problems we are facing at an alarming rate with a downward spiral. Arrogance, Elitist, criminal mindset, refusing to answer Congressional hearings questions, failing to comply with Office of Inspector General reports, GOA reports and recommendations and outright lies, coverups are expressed with non compliance and blatant ignoring the laws and regulations of our country and the Code of Federal Regulations. This is the Secretary , Assistant Secretary , Directors and VARO Service Managers that continue to operate with immunity. No one can touch them and we see everything getting worse. Responsibility and accountability are totally ignored and rewarded with more bonuses. I am going to list just a few of the more recent problems within the last 6 months to a year from some of the news articles or past post with topics that are here at Hadit. 1. The incredible increase of the backlog 2. Inacurracy of the claims decisions process and its error rates especially from initial decisions to BVA remands process 3. Problems viewing Cfiles 4. Lack of Due Processs to Veterans and the Timelines faulty, error ridden decisions making Appeals nearly impossible 5. Failing to answer phone calls at most VAROS 6. VARO C and P exams not available to veterans or delayed more than one year 7. FOIA delays of information or non compliance at all 8. Dependents pay non-compliance and or long delays 9. VA arrogance on questions from House and Senate subcommittees, GOA, OIG reports 10.Fidicuiary Scandals 11. Legionaires Disease Coverup 12. Suicide Veteran Rate Increase 13. Lack of treatment for PTSD veterans 14 Homelessness of our Veterans 15. Paperless transitions for records inconsistancy between VAROs and VAMC, Clinics , dealing with MyhealthyVet, Ebenefits 16. Travel pay issues 17. Treating any correspondance with VAROS as a NEW CLAIM I have used Hadit, and many news organizations, House and Senate reports, OIG, GOA and other agencies to bring up these points above. Now I know I have missed alot of areas and these are just some of the more recent events and directions VA is taking and it is so evident by the huge number of Veterans that are posting on Hadit and viewing our topics. You can see it in the tone of our topics and the Veterans and their wives and widows desparation. I have been a member here for over 6 years and the overall direction the Veterans Affairs has taken is absolutely out of control. It has gotten so bad. I am so fearful for our Veterans that are just now coming into the VA claims and benefits process. That so many are going to fall thru the cracks and that the number of Veterans who will just say I quit and face prison, divorce or death or homelessness. That the number of Veteran problems now dominate our news agencies. Our courts and prisons are fast seeing an alarming problem with our Veteran community. We see it daily in our News reports. That is why I have to just bring this topic up thats been on my mind for a long while, so that many of our Veterans can see that we all face some very dark waters ahead. And that is why I hope that every Veteran that comes to Hadit will say to each other....... NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C.
  13. Hello Warren,,,, I believe this whole myhealthyvet thing is going to be a fiasco. It just shows the difference in reporting things on it like your records and my records and John and Teacs for instance are all different for years or subject matter. Someone has to put these reports in the system and the system is only as good as those in control of it. There is absolutely NO CONTINUITY of this program and it has nowhere to go but more PROBLEMS. There is really noway around it. I am not really looking at this as to being an answer to any of the Veterans problems ,,,,,,,, inspite of Undersec Allison Hickeys great admiration of it. Remember she is a BIG part of the problems VA has. Reviewing her comments , statements and especially her live performances UNDER OATH at House Veterans Affairs Committees, which really showed her lack of concern for any problems with the VA , the backlog or our Veteran Communitiy as a whole. She is so insulated and is a major problem for anything to be done with the REAL ISSUES within the entire VA claims process. Not to mention her "wonderful" self gratifying answers to the members questions and especially the BONUS system questions for her and VBA. Mr Filner was the only one there that actually got as mad as I was watching. At least we have one advocate in Congress. There will be nothing done anytime soon with more beauracracy and the handful of upper management who carefully plot ways to lengthen the Veterans Process and to protect their bonuses. Same oh,,, Same Oh ,,,for the last 15-20 years. NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C.
  14. Hello Teac,,,,, I tried some experiments last night and was able to pull up discharges and summaries checkpoint back to when I was in Audie Murphy Hospital in June. I also tried to get some other things in the check boxes but at present it will not let me get much except from Jan of this year. I was able to get the diagnosis check box back to 2007 and the Doctor who diagnosed. I think this thing just moves along from state to state and VARO to VARO and they do what they want in putting information into the MyHealthyVet. I will say that I am getting alot of test and doctors evaluations now so that looks like its showing up in anything from Jan. This still may pose a problem because what is a Veteran to do if his records do not go back to his Effective date and if the VA starts to "disseminate" or "shred" his or hers documents. I see BIG problems coming and lots of IG and Congressional Hearings that will address more abuse by the VA and their BACKLOG and the lack of Veterans Records for their claims. I am printing stuff now from the BLUE BUTTON before they start screwing everything up . I would recommend that other Veterans start printing what they can. OH yes ,,,, I am now at the Valley South Texas Health Care and not at Audie Murphy like years ago. And that will make a difference I am sure. Thanks for your help with our Vets , Teac ,,,, you are trying to work against GOLIATH and have been successful . NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C.
  15. Hello All,,,, Jbasser....SWTCC...... that is so funny and has made my day with a chuckle. I agree with all the comments. We are all in trouble and its going to be a way to shut down all Veterans claims ,,,,individually but collectively as a whole. NEVER GIVE UP . God Bless, C.C.
  16. Hello Warren,,,, I think I posted something on this about a week or two ago. Yes this program is brand new. Here in Texas a Veteran can pull up records from Jan 1, 2013. I have not been able to pull up anything earlier. I do not know about the rest of the country and the My Healthy Vet situation as Teac pointed out. It is a step in the right direction and now helps us to not have to go stand in line at the VA to wait on Progress reports and Lab work reports. As you pointed out it can be printed. I am wondering though how this will work against the VET as we all move to the new and wonderful world of VA "paperless" records. I do not believe this will be as easy now as it gets some time on the system and "NEW " problems will develope. Petes right about the check box issue as it can be a little trickey. I wish you well on your claim and please remember to NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C.
  17. This is really been good information for our Vets.... Thank you all for posting this. Berta ,,,,it would be a good show topic for SVR. NEVER GIVE UP . God Bless, C.C.
  18. Hello Phillip,,,, Microsoft has flight simulators for several aircraft. Even have WW2 , European theater and Pacific theater. The planes used vary from P-38. F4 u Corsairs,,,,Hellcats....... Messershmidts 109, Folke wolfe,,,,etc....... The cool thing about them is the actual pilot view of the dash board is EXACTLY what the real ones had,,, so your view of the dash will be just like that of the real thing. Also the flying and stall speeds and reaction will be exactly as it was to the real plane. Some faster....some slower ,,,,less manuervable.... Different scenes available with different battles .... Just something to think about. I know you need a computer that will handle the program and some of the new computers are just not available with some of the programs. Might try amazon or ebay as they are about 10-15ears old but very cool. My dad saw the cockpit of the F4U corsair and said it was exactly like that and he could not believe it . He was a Marine Aviator at the end of the war...... NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C.
  19. Hello Boomer,,,,,,You know what ,,,,,you just jogged my feeble memory and that is what was also told to me. Thanks Boomer. That you do not want to let your loan become assumable to another person because you could loose that part of your allowable. Thanks for you and Teac bringing that up. Sorry for not being clearer ,,,,,this has been along 3 months for me. NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C.
  20. Hello All, Thru a post from member Ronin2033 on information on Fort Detrick , he has a great link to more DOD , US Army and other agencies. There are a number of other important sites that are listed and much research for those interested in obtaining more specific reports to help in their claims process. Thank you Ronin and hope you can post any other AO documents finds. Remember that this is now ARCHIVED here at HADIT.COM ,,,,,,which boast the largest Veteran library of archived material to use for the veteran. I still have not found any Beaumont News articles from the period you asked in another post but am still trying to find it. Thanks again for your help for our Veterans . NEVER GIVE UP . God Bless, C.C. http://www.detrick.army.mil/responsible/ArchivalReport2012.pdf
  21. Hello Teac,,,,, I was told by a VA rep back in the 90's when I was going to get another house that I had used up a portion of it and had a certain amount still left. I had the loan totally paid off and early too. Obviously from your post they fed me bad advice. I did not use the Certificate again so still have it. Thanks for pointing that out too because if the VA is telling us that ,then they really all don't know the Home VA loan issues .....or at least some of them don't . Hope your doing well..... 23. Hello Berta, I used my certificate the first time to buy my first home back in 1978. I still have a nice balence left for the unused part. I paid that note off so I am in good standing and have a balence left over. I did not have a claim going on back then so I don't think it would have mattered. It was one of the more simple things I have done with the VA and did not take very long at all back then. I will say that was back in the good ole days so don't know what its like now. I am with Carlie on this. I do not think it will affect any of your claims positions or outcomes at the VARO. The home loan they can do is usually separate and done by a different group. HHmmmmmm,,,,, I wonder if its because they are going to make money on the interest and its money coming in...... not like it is when money is going out. Oh yes I forgot,,,,, many states have some sort of a Veterans Land board that offers other loan advantages and such, that is separate from VA. I know that the Texas Land Board has lots of help for Vets looking to purchase, finance or possibly fix up some land. Our Land Commissioner is Jerry Patterson, a Marine Veteran and a great person that has brought the Texas Veteran Land Program a long ways. I am sure your state has some incentatives that can be utilized also in conjunction with the VA Home Loan program that may be similiar. NEVER GIVE UP. God Bless, C.C .http://www.glo.texas.gov/
