Pcp Made Referal With Va Ent Doc
Commander Bob replied to Rockhound's question in VA Disability Claims Research
Can you see your deviated septum when you look up your nose? These things don't heal on their own. It's been my experience, when you sign a release of records to the VA from an outside doctor, you open the door to all the records from that Dr. IMHO. Question; How long have you been rated for the deviated septum? -
Just a note for the readers.. There is no twenty year protection for TDIU.

Re; Finding The Fakes Among The Heroes
Commander Bob replied to Commander Bob's topic in VA Scandals
The Military Occupational Speciality ( MOS )is used in the Army and the Marines. The Air Force uses the AFSC ( Air Force Specialty Code ) As Stretch posted, the Navy is different, in that a system of navel ratings and designators are used along with the Navy Enlisted Classification ( NEC ). DMOS is an abbreviation for Duty Military Occupational Speciality, not to be confused with a MOS. Back to the Navy. Officers in the USN have a Designator. It is similar to a MOS but is less complicated and has fewer categories. So An officer with the Naval Aviator code might have an AQD of DV3, SH-60F Carrier. A Navy Seal would have a NEC of 5326 Combatant Swimmer (SEAL ), unless they were an officer then they would have a designator... See it's simple. On second thought, don't try this at home , kids, unless you understand how to catch a wannabe. -

New Agent Orange Cancer Bill H.r. 3491
Commander Bob replied to allan's question in VA Disability Claims Research
It's a known fact that our Gov. knew the dioxin dangers of Agent Orange as far back as the early 1950's. Colin Powell's remarks " You break it. You buy it." applies to Agent Orange contamination. This was willful misconduct, on the part of the military and DOD-DOW. When I was in Vietnam, we had to resupply our canteens and personal water supply from the streams and run off of Agent Orange contaminated areas. Any fool now knows, if you drink Agent Orange Kool-Aid, it could very well damage internal organs and passage ways, including esophageal and gastric systems. The ingestion of AO through the water supply is the elephant in the room, when sub-committee's debate the issue. If the Congress was required to drink a bottle of AO water. How many would? -

ptsd Hiding Your Ptsd
Commander Bob replied to sgmdae's question in PTSD Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Claims
DSM-IV-TR criteria for PTSD In 2000, the American Psychiatric Association revised the PTSD diagnostic criteria in the fourth edition of its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR). The diagnostic criteria (Criterion A-F) are specified below. Diagnostic criteria for PTSD include a history of exposure to a traumatic event meeting two criteria and symptoms from each of three symptom clusters: intrusive recollections, avoidant/numbing symptoms, and hyper-arousal symptoms. A fifth criterion concerns duration of symptoms and a sixth assesses functioning. Criterion A: stressor The person has been exposed to a traumatic event in which both of the following have been present: 1. The person has experienced, witnessed, or been confronted with an event or events that involve actual or threatened death or serious injury, or a threat to the physical integrity of oneself or others. 2. The person's response involved intense fear, helplessness, or horror. Note: in children, it may be expressed instead by disorganized or agitated behavior. Criterion B: intrusive recollection The traumatic event is persistently re-experienced in at least one of the following ways: 1. Recurrent and intrusive distressing recollections of the event, including images, thoughts, or perceptions. Note: in young children, repetitive play may occur in which themes or aspects of the trauma are expressed. 2. Recurrent distressing dreams of the event. Note: in children, there may be frightening dreams without recognizable content 3. Acting or feeling as if the traumatic event were recurring (includes a sense of reliving the experience, illusions, hallucinations, and dissociative flashback episodes, including those that occur upon awakening or when intoxicated). Note: in children, trauma-specific reenactment may occur. 4. Intense psychological distress at exposure to internal or external cues that symbolize or resemble an aspect of the traumatic event. 5. Physiologic reactivity upon exposure to internal or external cues that symbolize or resemble an aspect of the traumatic event Criterion C: avoidant/numbing Persistent avoidance of stimuli associated with the trauma and numbing of general responsiveness (not present before the trauma), as indicated by at least three of the following: 1. Efforts to avoid thoughts, feelings, or conversations associated with the trauma 2. Efforts to avoid activities, places, or people that arouse recollections of the trauma 3. Inability to recall an important aspect of the trauma 4. Markedly diminished interest or participation in significant activities 5. Feeling of detachment or estrangement from others 6. Restricted range of affect (e.g., unable to have loving feelings) 7. Sense of foreshortened future (e.g., does not expect to have a career, marriage, children, or a normal life span) Criterion D: hyper-arousal Persistent symptoms of increasing arousal (not present before the trauma), indicated by at least two of the following: 1. Difficulty falling or staying asleep 2. Irritability or outbursts of anger 3. Difficulty concentrating 4. Hyper-vigilance 5. Exaggerated startle response Criterion E: duration Duration of the disturbance (symptoms in B, C, and D) is more than one month. Criterion F: functional significance The disturbance causes clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning. Specify if: Acute: if duration of symptoms is less than three months Chronic: if duration of symptoms is three months or more Specify if: With or Without delay onset: Onset of symptoms at least six months after the stressor References American Psychiatric Association. Yes, shamrock, I understand... I would have been honored to serve in the U.S.10th Cavalry. As you posted, "... The nickname for the 10th cav in VN and still is, is the buffalo soldiers for the current active duty 10th cav soldiers...." . and you mention..."In VN, blacks and whites were in the unit...". I believe sharon was referring to the Buffalo Soldiers, from 1866 till 1951, when the U.S. armed services ended segregation. Big difference in time and uniform... A reminder of racism in the military. -
From pearls to storms, so far so good, for sure. Did you get that new clothes washer yet?

I believe the gentleman would have to be in his 80's, to have served in the any of the Buffalo Soldier units of WWII. Here is a link for our guests and members, who are not that familiar with the Buffalo Soldier era, in our national history. [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_Soldier] -
Thanks Sharon.

roger that, sgmdae... I have always tried to keep my back to that wall you are talking about. Life is short, even if we get 100 years or so. ( quote Tom Hanks, Movie, Cast Away )"We have to keep breathing. Besides, who knows what the tide will bring in". -

Testosterone, and visions of glory, John999. Beside it's a hell of an adventure. I remember the day, around 2 weeks into basic training, when I wondered if I had made a mistake with my career choice. :P -

You survived A Shau Valley, Hill 937. You are truly a hero, in my book, sgmdae. I was wounded just after Tet 68', outside of xxxxxxx, I corp. That ended my active duty and my career plans. -
I'm sorry it hurts, SouthernBelle.. You have brought so much sunshine to our forum. I hope you feel better soon. Regarding the cell phone-road kill incident. Look on the bright side. Now you can get an I-phone or Blackberry, and text as you go..... B) :P
