  1. I belive if the bill gets tabled, it will never make it out of committee. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-motion-to-table.htm
  2. YES. Hang in there. You are doing an outstanding job.
  3. It's been well over fifteen years since I've been in the trenches, like you all are today. Parliamentary procedure, and "Robert's Rules of Order" should require the bill be brought up as unfinished business at the next meeting. However, if it's tabled, usually it's dead. This could also happen if it makes it out of the committee and on to the floor of the general assembly. My most positive thoughts are with you all in Illinois, for a successful outcome.
  4. In the past, when I would testify at the state level, I would always ask that the pending bill not be tabled.
  5. Ask one of the co-sponsors. One of the committee members makes a motion to table HB0273 for consideration. if the motion is passed, HB0273 will be put aside. here is a link; http://www.c-span.org/guide/congress/glossary/motable.htm
  6. I received the same package. 8 or 9 pages? IMHO, ...get it back to them ASAP. Best wishes.
  7. I hope everything went well at your Illinois state legislative committee meeting today. Did anyone make a motion to table HB0273?
  8. Reminder;...you should conclude all statements in support of your claim with the following sentence: " I hereby certify that the information I have given is true to the best of my knowledge and belief". The VA requires all statements submitted in your behalf, to conclude with that certification sentence. I would also put my VA claim number at the top of all pages.
  9. I have used Space A on many flights, over the years. When I was active in the veterans community, I would fly up to DC for meetings etc. Once, the pilot let me sit in the jump seat, up in the cock pit when he landed at Andrews AFB. What a trip. Great memories.
  10. I avoid the VA, like the plague. However, I can't help but believe that things will get better in the future. The secret is to keep breathing.
  11. Good Morning john999, I hope you find pain relief soon. Something that works for you. I know that you and I and many of us, live with pain, that would send the civilians screaming in the streets. The pain clinic sounds like a real pain. You also mentioned parking. Parking seems to be a problem at many VAMCs. I feel like I won the lottery when I find a parking spot at the VA. Is this system wide????
  12. All things considered. It sounds like an amazing adventure. What about the mosquitos, in the Summer?
  13. Happy Birthday, Rockytop... I would file for SS at age 62.
  14. No you won't be cut off tdiu, just because you turn 63/65. I just called my NSO at the VA for confirmation.
  15. Different details, same story 40years ago, but without the automation. VAMC is a great place for the NSC. It's more of a slap in the face for the SC & combat wounded.
  16. I have heard good and bad about all the Veterans service organizations, over the years. I have changed my "power of attorney" several times over the last 4 decades. No problem. Visit the organization you want to change over to, sign a new POA, and they will do the rest. You don't have to raise cane or worry about bad treatment. Good luck.
  17. The more I read these types of threads, the more I see that the VA is overwhelmed and under pressure. I'm hopeful that a new, and more responsive VA will emerge, after the tsunami of claims roll in, when the war in Iraq is over.
  18. Good morning Roly,... I would also revisit my HMO PCP, and ask for a consult to a mental health doctor. I would try that route again. Have the MH doctor write a report to your HMO, PCP, as well a letter for you. That's my plan for my Agent Orange claim. I had to push one of my HMO MD specialists, and help him with examples of statments in support of the claim, that can be found here, or through Hadit. The important thing is, if you know you are right then fight for your proper rating.
  19. Hi "Jim MAC", ... I am scheduled for my six month PET scan for tonsil cancer this Friday. Peace of mind is paramount for me too. I would hope that you press your primary care doctor to order the tests for you. Call again and again, if you have to. As you know, we have to be our own best advocate. Is there someone else at the VAMC you can get in touch with to help get you an appointment for the tests you need? Good luck, and best wishes.
  20. Glad to learn about the new program, SFCTRUCKDRIVER. Our fellow Hadit member, "Meddac" gave us insight regarding the anticipated increase in VA workload, after the war is over, and our troops start to come home. Soon, I hope. I am also glad to hear that you have copies of the incident reports. With Berta's and others help, and your efforts, SFC, you should do well with your claim. Best wishes.
  21. Good Morning "kino1161". Welcome aboard. Congratulations on your retirement. I too am waiting for a letter from the VA. It is a let down to finally find an envelope from the VA in the mail box, open it with anticipation, and see that it's just advising you to wait some more. Hang in there. Best wishes for a positive outcome with your claim.
