Disabled Vet License Plates

Rate this question

Sgt eve

Question

I received my disabled vet plates today. I'm not trying to sound greedy at all but when I filled out the form I put down both of our cars, since I drive both and they both are in my name. Will those come at a later time? My registration is already due and and I don't want to get a ticket but I don't want to pay to get the other car registered and then the plates come in. Any experience in this anybody? Thanks so much.

To all,

I should havew stated that I had to pay the first time registration fee for Oregon to get my permanent disabled plates. The minimum disability in Oregon is 10%.

There are other specialty plates available. I also have a "veteran" plate on our car. It cost more than standard plate, but part of the money goes to the Oregon Veterans Home in The Dalles.

In Texas the Veteran can have two sets if the vehicle is registered to them but the second set cost the same as all the others. The first cost 3 bucks and the other one is usually a little over 50.

Your post probably answers the vet's (original) question , since he is from Texas.

In the state of FL, if your are 100% disabilied you get one free tag, all others cost the normal cost.Just wondering did or does anyone else think that having a DAV Tag authorized you for hadicap parking (marked)? I was lead to belive that the DAV tag gave you the use of handicap parking, but I checked with the state of FL DOT he said NO. You have to have another doctors statement indicating you have heart or other conditions that will give you the hadicap parking. I also seen it used to say if you have problems walking 200 ft is not a reason anymore. Just wondering...

Thanks

In Nebraska, disabled veteran plates don't reduce the fees or taxes. When you get disabled veteran plates you pay all the regular fees and taxes and an additional $5 for the disabled veteran plate. This even includes 100% T&P veterans

That sounds like a bunch of crap. They need to get with the program. Contact your state representatives.

IN CALIFORNIA YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR DOCTOR TO FILL A FORM OUT THAT YOU GET AT THE DMV. IF YOU ARE 100% FROM THE VA YOU GET FREE CAR REGISTRATION ON ONE VEHICLE AND NEW PLATE WITH DV OR DP ON THE LAST 2 LETTERS IN THE PLATE NUMBER. DV FOR DISABLED VET AND DP FOR DISABLED PERSON. OF COURSE THERE IS A DIFFERNT FORM NEEDED TO GET THE FREE REGISTRATION ALONG WITH A DOCTORS NOTE. IT WAS VERY TIME CONSUMING THE DMV WAS JUST LIKE THE VA ASSHOLES. IT SEEMS THAT ALL GOVERMENT AGENCIES MAKE YOU FIGHT FOR BENIFITS.
