I like my current va providers just fine. But still curious here, do women vets get to see mostly nurse practioners and male vets are assigned doctors? Noticed references here women vets with pcp being a nurse practioner.

My Doc at the VA is a woman and I prefer her over most of the whack jobs I have had before.

The lady I saw Monday at Fayetteville was a nurse practicioner & is is my mental health care provider. Like Pete53, I prefer these people over some of the other cuke burgers I've seen with MD behind their name.

Well, lessee.....hmmmm?

My PCP is an M.D. and I can understand him if he speaks realllly sloooowww and if there is an interpreter nearby

My "shrink" is a PA (well, he's a PA but he's not the REAL "shrink", the real "shrink" I get to see twice a year, but the PA....I get to see him occasionally.....like when I get to wanting to shoot some silly ass or when I get manic.......). Of course, with the THREE suicides that we have had IN the Dallas VAMC since the first of the year....now I get to see my REAL shrink every time I get a frown on my face or fail to show for a "group grope" meeting. Funny how that works....

My pain therapist, she's a PsyD, PhD.

All in all, though, a pretty good bunch of "quacks" I guess. At least they have helped me through some tough spots.

But, as far as whether, because you're a girl, do you get the Nurse Practitioners and the guys get the "real" doctors. Naw......don't think so. EVERYbody gets to see the NP's, PA's, PhD's.

And, as far as them being less able to treat you properly........who knows?

I use Little Rock Women's Clinic and North Little Rock Fort Roots Mental Health and at both I have medical doctors. I don't think it has anything to do with gender, but staffing problems. Vicky

My PCP is a NP, I think thats all they have in the Womens center are females with the exception of the GYN doc who is a male.

My specialist are males. With the eception of Psy who are females.

The new MST doc is a male. Does that make any sense at all.
