HadIt.com Elder Josephine Posted May 30, 2008 Author HadIt.com Elder Share Posted May 30, 2008 Awesome Betty!! I'm very happy for you!! Way to go on paying off the bills, too. I don't have the right mind-frame to do that with any retro that I may get...I already have a '08 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 with a Cummins Turbo Diesel picked out with financing squared away...lol. Watch me get barely enough for a Snickers bar Shane, If I were your age, I may have spend my money differently, but you got one on me. Consider yourself lucky on that " Snickers Bar". Being the diabetic that I am, I would trade for that candy bar. I haven't had one to eat since October, which was, Halloween, 2001. Now ain't that a shame. Bless You, Betty
Ricky
Betty - I watched your struggle throughout this ordeal. You fought a very long, hard and depressing battle. However, you always found the strength to pick yourself up, even when you were getting hit from all fronts. Not many have the desire to take on such a long battle and not many win such battles. However, you are living proof of what dedication and strength will do for a veteran and all should learn from you. Congratulations on your win for you and your family are truly deserving. Take a break to catch your breath and resume the new battle a little later. Stay with us and help us and we will be here for you in your new battle. Once again CONGRATULATIONS. Founder Tbird Posted May 30, 2008 Founder Share Posted May 30, 2008 well betty this is great news! and what a wonderful thing to do with your retro, paying off your debt is freedom and you've been under a lot of pressure for a long time, you can finally relax a bit. very happy for you! I was rated at the R.O April 12, 2008 and received my retro check May 16, 2008 and this was for 16 years retro. I did sign up for automatic deposit and my first monthly check will be at my bank this Friday the 30th. I filled out the dependent papers for my husband to receive 11 years of retro and the service manager sent me an email he would start processing it and have a letter to me shortly. I filled out the papers for the TDIU and have already had the Roanoke office date stamp and sent to Huntington for me. I sent an inquiry concerning my NOD 2004 for headaches. I paid off the Mortgage, New Car we purchased last year, paid off the charge cards, and bought myself $3000.00 dollars worth of dolls. Saving the rest. Not much when I got through with it. I did as recommended. I placed it in joint checking acccount at the bank, went the next day had my bank authorize a check in my husbands name and it left my name in 24 hours. I am sorry I have been so late in posting this to all. I have posted it on others site, but not one especially for everyone to read. Believe without the members of Hadit, this would have never happened. I thank everyone, Too many to mention. This was a group win for all. Low- balled Yes, will I get a lawyer later, most likely before the year is up, but laying low at this time. Again, thanks and hugs to all! Thanks to the VA I have finally contributed some money into the family. I always said the money belong to my husband, for he has always supported me. Yes, I have posted and kept my story alive so others will keep going and hope that my struggle will show them they can do it. Again, this win is for the group, it was a combined win for everyone on this site, for I could never have done this alone. New people out there, take heed to what I am saying, " It was the members of this site, that made this was possible for me." Always, Betty

HadIt.com Elder Pete53 Posted May 30, 2008 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted May 30, 2008 I told you from the start that the IMO provided by your Doctor who knew you in Service was going to win your claim for you. I have seldom seen a Veteran with such good medical evidence get shut out for so long. I have made it a point not to begrudge any Veteran who wins easily I only wish all Veterans with claims could do that but sometimes it rankled me with the Medical Evidence of the symptoms and treatment while in service, a bulletproof IMO and a current diagnosis and treatment the VA jacked me around for 5 and 1/2 years. As a long time member of Hadit I try not to judge anyone's claim but when I see a veteran with good evidence struggle I try as best as I can to offer moral support and faith that the VA eventually will do the right thing. MT Skull who used to post via his wife Kim on Hadit took almost 25 years to win his claim.I think he would still be fighting if Kim did not hire a lawyer for him as a third party and old loophole the VA has since plugged that allowed Family Members to hire a Lawyer. I am especially pleased that you will get a lawyer to finish off your claim. Best Regards Pete
