Filner endorses the proposal, but I am waiting to see how our congress does at implementing this good idea. I just might have a tendency to vote people for re election if they can "get er done".

This would put stimilus money in the hands of those who deserve it the most, and also those who probably need it the most.

The story is here:

Yup, as Chuck said...the IRS collects tax money as well, many folks owe them...so when they have to pay ppl, they already have the monies needed to pay out. The VA doesn't have an endless supply of money to pay out all of those claims at once....there aren't any vets paying into that system. The two systems are like night and day.

Analyzing a tax return of a few pages vs analyzing a medical claim of several hundred pages are two completely different animals.

Denied, Denied, Denied, Denied, Denied. Got my quota, let them fix it on appeal.

Let's get real for a few minutes; VA knows exactly what they are doing. They feel that there are too many veterans filing claims for compensation. VA knows if they deny and cause delays that veterans may die and they do not have to pay the claims. If a veteran file a claim and the claim is denied and the veteran appeals the claim and dies the VA normally denies the claim because the veterans died due to non service connected conditions but the only reason that it was non service connected is because it was not rated properly and the appeal was in process. I know that the dependents can appeal this but most of them don't and VA gets away from paying. Also, veterans file claims and are denied and they wait years before they reopen a claim or file for an appeal. An example of this was in the report but the veteran didn't wait, he filed an appeal:

Inexperienced VA adjudicators routinely challenge and deny veterans' claims of combat-related disabilities. Example: Army military policeman Eric Adams, of Tampa, led a truck convoy in Iraq, when a roadside bomb exploded in front of his van and a tractor-trailer smashed into him from the rear. First, the VA adjudicator said he hadn't been in combat because he was just an MP. Later, an adjudicator ruled he didn't have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, even though two VA doctors had diagnosed it.

This is ludicrous, when a claim is adjudicated it goes to a supervisor who should not be inexperienced, based on the information the supervisor should have corrected this along with the denial of PTSD. It is just not one stage but it is the whole system. VA is not for the veteran as much as they say they want to help, a veteran must force an approved service connection by knowing what is in his/her SMRs, their current treatment/diagnosis and the CFR 38 part 4 to win a claim and VA still tries to deny them. They know exactly what they are doing. Lot of VA employees feel that veterans are getting free money. It doesn't matter if you were in combat or not in combat if you suffer from being exposed of a condition in the military and it becomes a handicap (disability) you should be compensated for it. The attitudes of the entire VA system must change. We are not second class citizens. We raised our hands, we gave our minds, bodies, hearts, blood, souls, tears, and sweat we deserve better. We have lost everything: loved ones, families, friends, homes, cars, and peace of mind. VA treats us like beggars asking for handouts but we have actually earned the right to be compensated. Even in the civilian world they have workers compensation and disability compensation why should the VA get away with not paying its soldiers. Sorry for venting, but I don't think this will be passed but I maybe wrong

VA probably spends more money on man power then actually paying veterans compensation, just imagine all the appeals that get approved where it could have been service connected from the beginning
