unique
I have been waiting two years for Social Security to make a decision on my SSDI claim. Can someone give me some advice on dealing with the wait. How long did it take for your claim with Social Security to be approved.
HadIt.com Elder allan Posted August 25, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted August 25, 2009 A hearing before the judge usually take 6 months to a year to set up. I can tell you now things work much faster when you have an attorney. Those representing themselves usually get the slow line. Calling, finding out who is working your claim & getting them motavated is what your attorney would be doing. Almost everyone gets denied the first time around. As long as your Dr has stated that your unable to perform even sedantary work, you should win with the ALJ.
HadIt.com Elder jbasser Posted August 25, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted August 25, 2009 Unique, If you have an attorney, They would be the ones to really ask as SSDI cases vary from state to state. My attorney called me in to put the case together 2 weeks before the hearing. I know a lot of folks dont have attorneys but I am glad I did. unique
I do have an attorney, he stated that the wait in Georgia could range anywhere from 18 to 24 months for a hearing. Social Security recently said that they were sended my case back to DDS for a prehearing case review. What is a prehearing case review?

J That's about the time frame my attorney gave before my ALJ hearing too; my attorney told me not to drive myself. It was an informal hearing with my attorney, the ALJ, and Me, so it was not as nerve racking as I thought it would be. iraqx2
1-3 Months is possible, from file date to deposit. Unfortunately, this was under the " Wounded Warrior " program by SS and me being a proactive claimant, no lawyers were used. I feel so bad that many of you are getting the run around.
