Question

I am currently rated 50% for anxiety disorder. I had my c&p exam in July. I obtained a copy of my c&p exam and I am not sure how this works. The following is what was typed by the examiner: (if anyone can give me their thoughts opinions on how this may turn out I would appreciate it)

Axis I: generalized anxiety disorder

Axis II: no dx

Axis III: various sicknesses, surgeries, etc over the years

Axis IV: Anxiety symptoms; job problems

Axis V: Global Assessment of Functioning

Score: 42 Time Frame: current functioning

Comments: There are serious impairments in her ability to interact with others. She has continued to have this problem despite medication and therapy. There have been numerous and ongoing difficulties getting along with bosses and coworkers. These problems (irritability and crying under pressure) caused her to be fired from her most recent job. She has had approx. 10 jobs in the 15 yrs since her discharge from service.

Does each diagnosis of mental disorder meet the DSM-IV diagnostic criteria? YES

Stephanie, Your exam results in jul for C&Pshow the Dr writing YES to total occupational and social impairments due to mental disorder s/s so my 8 ball prediction is the outlook is good and it points to yes for IU or 100%. You were at 50% and put in for an increase with ptsd now. You need to open your arms with all that may be given to you. You have worked for it. Enjoy your life with your daughter, a precious gift of the lord. Take time for yourself to gain strength and work on patience. Ask family or friends to help you when you have a down day...or seek clergy, even web sites to vent if not able to with your mental health professionals. Try not to keep those feeling locked up inside, as they will eat away at you. I am hoping you receive what you are seeking. The BEST!

I was just told by JS that I am not elligible for IU because I currently have 50%. This is what he wrote...any thoughts? Is he right?

This is what he wrote:

OK. Good.

Did he tell you that you aren't eligible for the IU benefit?

Again...you must have 60% or 70% except in some very unique

circumstances. It's rare for VA to approve anything outside the norm.

If and when you receive a denial for the IU benefit, I'll be happy to

help you make a future plan to increase your benefit.

Your psych C&P will probably net you a 70% rating. That, along with you existing 50%, will certainly pave the way for your TDIU, which should also come with the 70% psych award.

Of course, they could turn right around and "low-ball" ya with a 50% or even a 30% on your psych, but, that should STILL be enough for your TDIU.

Just my humble opinion, of course.

"It is cold and we have no blankets.

The little children are freezing to death.

My people, some of them, have run away to the hills, and have no blankets, no food; no one knows where they are-perhaps freezing to death.

I want to have time to look for my children and see how many of them I can find.

Maybe I shall find them among the dead.

Hear me, my chiefs! I am tired; my heart is sick and sad.

From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever."

Celli like Larry said, you could be rated 70% and TDIU.Most of the time when there is total occupational and social impairments due to mental disorder and etc: VA will give you a 100% rating for generalized anxiety disorder and make TDIU a moot subject.
