Diagnosed With "subjective Tinnitus" Anybody Get This Diag?

Question

The more I think about it the more it frustrates me...The audiologist diag me with "Subjective Tinnitus" and pronounced hearing loss...given hearing aide...she wanted to give me 2 but I told her just 1... Claim Denied!! No hearing loss grant, and no tinnitus grant either.

But my point is tinnitus is a Subjective complaint. It is in your head/ears...It cannot be "Objective" as they can't hear the sounds, so I think this was just a sick/clever VA way to deny it easiely.

I have read and personally seen claims where vets get 10% for tinninus...does not specify SUBJECTIVE TINNITUS.

Any comments??

halos2,

Only subjective Tinnitus (heard only by the patient)

is able to get service connected.

Objective Tinnitus (which can be heard by other's)

is not able to be service connected.

The keys to getting compensation for Tinnitus, service connected are:

Audiology or ENT diagnosis of Recurrent Tinnitus

with a Nexus.

By chance did Audiology state - Tinnitus - Recurrent ?

No recurrent written..I know that by writing subjective it is me who hears it, I have not seen this like this written before. Have you? Everybody knows your claim ringing in the ears(tinnitus) because you hear it...I think she was trying to discount me by putting Subjective, so when the rater read it there was no direct proof...[ and it resulted in a fast denial.

Is this something new to write it this way? I don't know why she didn't just write Tinnitus.

That is what I am trying to quantify, why this way?

halos2,

NO - NO - NO -

Again - Tinnitus can only be granted if IT IS SUBJECTIVE Tinnitus

6260 Tinnitus, recurrent........................................ 10

Note (1): A separate evaluation for tinnitus may be combined

with an evaluation under diagnostic codes 6100, 6200, 6204,

or other diagnostic code, except when tinnitus supports an

evaluation under one of those diagnostic codes.

Note (2): Assign only a single evaluation for recurrent

tinnitus, whether the sound is perceived in one ear, both

ears, or in the head.

Note (3): Do not evaluate objective tinnitus (in which the

sound is audible to other people and has a definable cause

that may or may not be pathologic) under this diagnostic

code, but evaluate it as part of any underlying condition

causing it.

I have heard of people somehow receiving radio waves via their metal fillings so that they hear things. They really are hearing stuff and this is no hallucination. If you tell a shrink you are receiving messages in your head you get classified a paranoid schizophrenic.

I have plenty of metal in my mouth, thanks to the Army tearing my jaw apart and the VA trying to fix it. Still have not been able to pick up my favorite radio station...

Halos,

If you were in an excess noise environment while on active duty than you should be able to win an NOD appeal. Also, it would help to get a nexus go to costco they give free exams as do alot of other clinics because they want you to buy hearing aides. Hope this helps.

Good luck,
