you need to check occasionally to make sure they have not attempted to "close the file" claiming you didn't answer some correspondence or other or they grant one issue and ignore the rest and then they deem them denied and close the file the veteran or their rep has to stay on top of it at least annually to make sure the claim is still active I had 2 episodes where they said they did something or claimed I did something and I hadn't but as long as you have something dated annually in the file inquiring then they can't claim you abandoned the claim in one of the episodes they claimed I had signed a "lets make a deal letter" I didn't and the date they used was a Wednesday and all the vets in South Carolina that has been dealing with Assembly street knows that on Wed and Fri the VSOs will NOT meet with veterans because on Wed they have "hearings" all day and Friday is "catch up day" so the document they produced was not round dated it was on a seperate piece of paper keep appealing and keep it active I was also trying to make them deal with the human experiments which they did not want to do if I had not been so bullheaded from the beginning and dropped the exposure claim and took the route I did take it would have cut years off the mess....

retiredat, is correct we need to start posting regional offices. that will help us all. My appeals case is at the Waco Regional office. It has been 16months since I filied an appeal, and over 28 months since my claim began. The office has all the required information since day 1, yet I am still waiting. I read somewhere that well packagedcase don't take as long, but, that to is a well defined fib.

P.S. I hit them up about ever two weeks to 20 days just to make sure they haven't shut my case, without telling me. I am going to prepare a nice packaged letter and send it to the VAOIG, if nothing else it will have those guys go to Waco and inspect the way business is done. I just can't see how it takes as long as it does. The VA has service center managers who can't meet deadlines, and that is a problem. The staff simply doesn't get it.

I agree with Commander Bob. I look at it as a savings account. Don't like that they are using my money all these months, but will continue to fight the fight! The fact that startles me is that a favorable BVA decision does not always indicate a win or that the fight is over.

Began in 03...went to BVA in 08...remanded back to VARO in 10...waiting, impatiently waiting along with a few other old claims too....oh humbug!

with all the of the responses it sounds like an appeal could go on for many years.. that alone will make my waiting miserable.. I wish, but wishing doesn't help..
