VetsLady
Thank you for all the words .... I really appreciate them. Sheila - thanks for the tipster. titlewave - was this for an initial rating decision or an appeal ? We haven't received the "rating decision" in the mail ... yet . I've read many posts that indicate the Veteran saw the $ in their bank account before they received the rating decision in the US Mail. Not that I think this will happen but my stomach is in knots thinking about the "what if" his rating comes back at 0% ???? Trying my best to stay on the positive side of life right now.....I have to continue to believe everything will be ok ... it's pretty tough until you know for absolute. VetsLady
My post was concerning an appeal. So I had two years back pay which was quite nice. Thanks for the response to my question ... This claim is a granted appeal also. Just shy of 8 years from initial claim. HadIt.com Elder Pete53 Posted October 11, 2010 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted October 11, 2010 I've done this! If you select the option to change your direct deposit, you get transferred straight to the finance folks - in my experience.... Just ask them if there is a payment out there in the system for you. If it's there, they can give you the date it's supposed to hit and the exact amount.... Good luck and hang in there Thanks that is good info
VetsLady
Braved it and called 1-800 - "Do ya really wanna know ?" and the answer was..... "Minimum of 40 days from the date the rating was completed" before any retro is paid. The Rep I spoke to, who by the way was "Mr. Happy" ... Mr. Happy, although I appreciate the courtesy very much ....., hearing a voice on the other end that sounded like a "Welcome to Disneyland" or "Hello Girls and Boys !" - didn't leave me feeling very joyful .... of course, had it been GREAT news like the $$ is in the bank, Mr. Happy is exactly who I'd want to get the good word from ... He did tell me that with appeals, if there is alot of retro coming to the Veteran, it takes longer to go through the red tape and more signatures are required. OMyGosh, this isn't good news at this time. I should have known not to call .... Send another double strength ladder please .......... Stayin' on the positive, tryin' ... tryin ...' VetsLady
Finally received a response to IRIS request ..... Our records show that your grant of benefits had a rating decision made on it as of October 6, 2010, and it is now in line awaiting to be authorized. As soon as it has been authorized your notification letter will be generated and sent to your address of record explaining the decision in detail. We appreciate your patience during this time while we complete the process. This was a grant from BVA ... I am a bundle of nerves -
