What Do You Think About E-Benifits

Question

I called the 800# to ask a question about my claim with the rating team and the discussion turned to e-benefits. The rep asked me what I thought about the site. I let him know that there were a lot of vets that were unable to get to a VA hospital to sign up. It appears he was actually doing a survey at the conclusion of my issue as the VA wants to know what needs to to be done to make it more easier to use. My suggestions: offer more sites to enroll, lets VETS know how and where to go, and walk them through the entire process as there is a lot of vets who are not familiar with using a computer-logging in, and knowing how to use the site.offer a better status then what is currently given. He said the e-benefits site doesn't state anything different than they do. Well, by providing more better information that would cut down on the 800# calls, save the tax payer money. Also I let him know when you send a letter in it doesn;t state what it is, just medical information received ,ect. When a VSo sends a letter in, it would be nice to know that particular letter was received-not just a generic statement that is meaningless as it takes forever to get something inputted into the system.

I was on eBenefits at about 2:15 pm today and again just a few minutes ago. Could not get on this morning when I tried but forget the time.

Site still down(1:00 am 11-22-2010)-only operational and maintained during normal business hours-government doesn't maintain site during off hours. If it goes down, it takes numerous calls the next business day before someone will repair it.. I know-they called me once it came up-still took another hour before before it was up and running 100%.

Site is expectecd to be down until tomorrow-contact number for e-benefits is 1-800-983-0937-they will just tell you they are experiencing problems-try tomorrow-call the 800#, then they will chew you out for calling as they now are tracking your calls.

E-benefits once again down-says due to maintenance. That is impossible-no one is available to work on this site tell next business day which is Monday. So once again, you need to check that status of your claim during the week. Sorry-

I've been waiting for months for them to get the myhealthvet login to work with the ebenefits site. I've called the 800 number "they are working on it". I've about giving up on it ever working for me.

I am writing my memoirs and would love it if you could help a shipmate out and look at it.

I've had a few challenges, perhaps the same as you. I relate them here to demonstrate that we can learn, overcome, and find purpose in life.

The stories can be harrowing to read; they were challenging to live. Remember that each story taught me something I would need once I found my purpose, and my purpose was and is HadIt.com Veterans.

When they first started this "ebenefits" thing, I tried to get on the site. As you all know, that was, basically, impossible! Three phone calls and I still had no usable information. So, me being the type person that I am (some say I'm an as*hole, some say I'm persistent) I made up my mind that I WOULD get on this site, regardless. So, I made my way down to the VA Hospital (they said that you could get your access information there). Yeah, RIGHT! I went to the med records dept., they asked everyone that worked in that dept. if anyone knew about this new "ebenefits" thing..............thought they were gonna call the guys in the little white coats on me. Then one of them suggested that I probably could go to the medical LIBRARY at the hospital, that THEY knew about this stuff. Yeah, OKAY, except that the person "working" in the library was actually just keeping a chair warm until the REAL "librarian" got back off a two-week vacation. SO, I'm NOW p*ssed, OKAY! So, I get in my car and I drive to Waco, TX (100 some odd miles away) and walk in there and tell them I want to get on the "ebenefits" site...............................and.....................the head guy with the gun has me sitting in his office, trying to explain WHY I wanted to gain access to a DOD-sensitive site....................................I weasel-talked myself outta being handcuffed and slowly snuck myself back to Dallas. THREE months later I finally was able to get on to this WONDERFUL SITE, only to find that there is NOTHING THERE other than a website that is (1) Impossible to navigate (2) Useless. Last month I did the "reorder hearing aid batteries" thing on the ebenefits site and GUESS WHAT............................it didn't work and I wound up buying batteries at Sam's Club.

Lovely.

"It is cold and we have no blankets.

The little children are freezing to death.

My people, some of them, have run away to the hills, and have no blankets, no food; no one knows where they are-perhaps freezing to death.

I want to have time to look for my children and see how many of them I can find.

Maybe I shall find them among the dead.

Hear me, my chiefs! I am tired; my heart is sick and sad.

From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever."
