Status Change - Preparation For Decision

Rate this question

Art J

Question

My claim status has changed to Preparation for Decision - Along with the status change my file was sent from the Baltimore Regional Office to St. Louis --- any insights as to what this means, is it standard process? Thoughts on time frame from this change to a final decision?

Thanks,

Art

Hey Art.

This answer comes directly from the eBenefits website as to what "Preparation for Decision" means.

"The Veterans Service Representative has recommended a decision, and is preparing required documents detailing that decision. If more evidence is required, the claim will be sent back in the process for more information or evidence."

Hope this helps and good luck.

when did you submit your claim?

I'm at baltimore also. submitted dec 2010 and in the same stage as you. I was in "decision" phase before the recent change to ebenefits. I called the 800 number and they said I was still in the same stage that there was no movement.

How do you know it went to St. loius?

I called the American Legion Service Officer to ask about the status change and they called up my file... but... they didn't have any details other than what I mentioned in the post

I sure wish the VA would update eBenefits to allow us (The Vets) to really see what is going on.... whenever I call the AL or the VA 800 number they don't seem to know and give conflicting and frequently wrong or outdated info... and it really frustrates me that the VA 800 number staff say to ignore eBenefits the VA on line site, because it is and I quote "Never Right"....

This is because they don't know the answers.

Even with ebenefits - trying to try your claim is not anything like trying

to track a package.

Keep in mind that ebenefits is dependent on human input AND

that claims can easily go from the decision phase right back into the

development phase.

My claim is in the BDD VARO in Raleigh NC. It went from gathering evidence to prep for decision last week. I can only hope it means it is moving forward. I think I saw at http://www.app.hospitalcompare.va.gov/index.cfm the average for BDD is 176 days. I am approaching 150 days. My biggest concern is getting rated to qualify for the home loan fee exception.
