There's a lot an examiner can see, sense, feel, etc., by being there w/you, such as body language, nervousness, etc.. It just sounds like another way the VA is trying to cut costs. Nothing the VA ever does is to "help" us. jmo

My last VA psychiatrist was located in Louisianna, and I'm in NY. I would be shown into a small office and she was on a not-very-big TV flat screen. I'd had to do therapy with a social worker that way before, also VA. We're upstate, in a rural location, and they have a really hard time finding doctors & therapists who want to live up here, so we have to tele-commute with them if we don't want to travel down to the city. The city, the driving there... very stressful.

But the tele-therapy was stressful too. Impossible to feel connected to them, to feel like they were seeing me at all. I just stared at my feet like I would if it was in-person, so I guess they got familiar with the top of my head.

I have a VA therapist here now, since they opened a rural health office, and the psychiatrist drives up once a week to see patients. They're both the best I and my DH have ever had.
