Approved Fee Basis For Dental

Rate this question

Question

I called the Dental Clinic in Houston on Friday and spoke with a very nice lady and requested Fee Basis for my Dental. It was later in the day about 4 p.m. when I called. To my amazement this same lady called not only called my home telephone number, but also my cell today (before noon) to let me know that I was approved for this. She even apologized for not calling me back on Friday! I am very pleased with the outcome for it saves me driving 116 miles to spend 1 hour in the dentist's chair and then make the return trip home. The long trip aggravates three of my service connected disabilities... Back, Cervical Spine and especially my PTSD (with the traffic and people causing me a lot of anxiety). To sum it up, Houston (the Varo and the Hospital) has treated me really good. If your service connected disabilities are aggravated by a long commute such as this I would suggest requesting Fee Basis. Now I will be able to use my local Dentist and not have to commute a little over 5 hours round trip.

I have a feeling the nearest one is probably farther away than my VAMC dental clinic. The one mentioned by RUREADY is over a 100 miles one way from my house.

I got a call from a dentist who takes VA fee base and only two miles from my house. I am in shock. Of course, I already had most expensive work done by private dentist because VA would not do dental implants. I was told partial would be just as good as real teeth. However, I am willing to see this private dentist for cleanings etc. Now I just need decent vision care, psychiatric, and all other specialist care since I don't want to go back to the VA. I will if I have to just to get pills and keep my problem list alive. I think few specialist will work for VA Fees.

Great conversation! I was provided a list from the Dublin VAMC. Some that are local I wouldn't go to on a bet, but others might not be so bad. I can scan and post if you'd like. When I contacted the office I'd like to go to, the woman that works the insurance wasn't really sure how to handle VA care since they had never been asked to do so. I can see them privately anyway, but wanted to use the benefit and save the co-pays for wife/kids. I'll just make the appointment with the local office and submit to VA. If denied, I'll file through private insurance. I'll post the results, but am looking forward to getting some stuff taken care of.

justrluk,

Please scan and post the list from Dublin VAMC. Dublin is my VAMC and the list would be helpful to me.

Thanks...Georgiapapa
