Just Had Ptsd C&p With Va

Rate this question

Question

I am very nervous right now. I just had my C&P exam with the VA and it went so quick I don't know what happened. The exam took less than ten minutes. I guess the examiner had already read my file. She only had a few questions for me but I felt like I had so much other stuff I wanted to tell her but my anxiety was so high I just answered her questions and quickly left the room. Once I get a copy of what she wrote I will give you guys an update.

Thanks for your quick reply NavyWife. I saw in one part she put the 50% rating but in another she put The PTSD symptoms described above cause clinically

significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning. Yes my SSDI is for PTSD. I submitted a copy to my VSO. I will e-mail him to make sure he submitted it.

Regardless of what box the examiner checked at the C&P, since you are not working and since you are getting ssdi for your service connected issue, I would think you would have a good case for 70%. TDIU would make sense here. Did you know you can file for TDIU anytime you aren't working due to your SC conditions, regardless of your current percentages?

Once VA becomes aware that you are unable to work due to your service-connected conditions they're supposed to "infer" TDIU. However they are extremely busy and often times they don't.

So you can tell your VSO that you would like to apply for TDIU now --he can direct you to the proper forms you need to fill out. If he doesn't want to help you then you can do a Google search for the TDIU forms or you can just file for it on ebenefits.

He might say that you don't meet the percentages needed to qualify for TDIU yet. That is true. However what many don't know is that by filing for TDIU before you meet the percentages required, you're essentially requesting an increase up to those percentages. And this maneuver is definitely allowed by the VA regulations. Additionally by filing for TDIU now you secure your effective date once you do finally get approved. In case you have to go through appeals or whatever to finally win TDIU. The effective date would go back to when you first file for TDIU.

I don't know if I explained that very well sorry. Basically file for TDIU now even if your VSO says you don't qualify.

Make certain that you include another copy of the SSDI approval along with the forms for TDIU.

Glad you you received your increase.

I too went through the same exact thing with the exam. I was only in there for maybe twenty minutes and my doc kept looking at the clock like she was ready to kick me out. I had so much I wanted to say and I felt like she didn't ask too many questions mostly about my family and a few questions about home life and work and that's it. I will be requesting my records at my local VA hospital to see what findings she came up with.

Don't depend 100% on your VSO. If you have important documents send them to the VARO also to make sure they get there.
