Request C-File

Rate this question

Question

Hi I am fairly new here and was wondering, i saw in several places where people had requested copies of their c-file how does one go about this (I do not have a VSO, will not have one, been screwed over by everyone i have ever had) I have been going at it alone pretty successfully to this point at present I have a NOD filed since Sept 2013 at the Phoenix VARO requested a DRO review of the file. So i guess mu question is this

1. how do you FOIA your C-File

2. Will it interfere with the NOD i presently have in process? if so I would rather wait then interfere with the NOD'

Thank you

How long should I wait before making my next move? It's a 90 minute drive to the VARO. I don't really have the time to make multiple runs down there just to get a few dozen pages at a time. OH, I double checked the date when I did that, I was wrong, it was April 27th, not May 18th. Which was about 28 business days ago.

Mine hung out there for a year and a half with no response from the VA. I finally got tired of waiting and logged onto the Presidential website and requested help in getting my C-File in the message feature. Next thing I know, I got a cool gold embossed card in the mail from the Office of the President of the United States, stating that they would check on my concern. It was a generic statement, and probably was a standard card used for all kinds of complaints.

However, within just a couple of weeks, I received my C-File in a mailer box via the U.S. Mail. Could have been a coincidence, but I think that a Presidential inquiry is what greased their wheels.

As a matter of fact, it had them moving so quick, they didn't realize that they failed to redact 89 pages of medical and psychological records belonging to other veterans.

If you don't get a response, try the Presidential to obtain your C-File. Then let us know if it worked fairly quickly if you do. Good luck!

Mark,

I may just do that. I would like to get it and digest it as quickly as I can, since I have a few contentions that were denied, and I want to get them reopened/reconsidered ASAP. Also got a few more lined up in the que waiting to be launched as soon as the C-file arrives. Thanks for the tip on the Presidential thing.

I wanted to check in, had a few medical issues to attend to, But I have decided that I am not going to request my C-File until After my NOD is complete, for those that asked, Yes i requested a hearing, I have been waiting since september of 2013 for any contact on my NOD, and am prepared to wait as long as I have to, I submitted evidence (things they should have had, with statements holding their hands for Paper trails, and other things.
