Question

Got a call yesterday from an outside Co. that the VA has given the responsibility to see that I get aC&P from an unknown DR. and location. I was suspicious at first but she had enough info on me for me to believe it. They will send me a Fedex package with the details? Anyone else done this?

Yep, had one about a year ago by outside contractor. Dr. listened to everything I told him and better yet wrote it all down. Go with a written list of your ailments so you won't forget to tell them. Good luck.

wingnut73,

Take copies of all relevant medical records with you to the exam. The examiner may or may not take them or review them. However, it is good to have them available. I have had C & P exams where the examiner gladly accepted the info because the VARO had only provided them with minimal info. The examiners used the info I provided to complete most of their questionnaire.

Once you know the doctor's name, check online and see if he or she is a specialist trained to diagnose and treat your specific medical conditions. If the doctor is not a specialist and your award for compensation is not granted, you can get an IMO (Independent Medical Opinion) from a specialist and submit it to countermand the opinion of the C & P examiner. JMO

Good luck to you and thank you for your service.

Yea they sent me to VES which handles the C&P down here in texas.

Never thought to print out all relevant med rec's. I'll have to do that when I'm scheduled to see mine in the next week or two for tbi/migraines.

these contracted CP docs are A crap shoot.. some are cocky asswipes that dont care abt or respect vets, and wont even shake your hand, and some are good, especially the older ones who are vets themselves.. With a outside contracted CP exam, you cant see it until after you claim is decided.. AND THAT IS WRONG.. Many things could be cleared up. I have had major mistakes or intentional irroneous info on several of my CP exams, and luckily I spotted them, and sent in the proof of the goof to my RO .. They then scheduled another CP at the VAMC , and that one was incorrect as well.
