Acupunture Is Now A Part Of Treatment

Recommended Posts

I just had this Treatment on Tues for the first time at the VA. I am unable to take pains due to Crohns and 2 blood transfusions. I found the acupuncture to be painful, and could barely walk the next day. I also have a Tens unit, but I cant seem to find anything that will work for my back and joint pain. Glad to hear the VA is doing this treatment, it should help a lot of Vets out there.

Navy04, I'm not sure VA are doing the same type treatment as fee base

because I had some done at another VAMC they offer 4 treatment once per

month it help some but not as much as this FB clinic. It is somewhat painful at first

but 1 hour later I feel a lot better for weeks. I have a lot of scar tissues from back surgeries

and this doctor just keep going in deeper and deeper every time I go, also he might inject 20

or more small needles in the scar tissues and VA didn't offer this to me maybe 3 needles most.

I have a nerve stimulator also thinking about getting this remove asap. I don't even turn it on anymore

Yes I agree GP

I ask my pcp about the free base out-patient care she looked at me Like what??

It is very expensive per session I can't afford to pay for it.

...............Buck

Buck52, try this go to the Director office file a complaint about acupuncture treatment

you ask for it and was told appointments was 60-90 days out can you get a referral to

a fee base for treatment. Try this first then no results then a letter to Bob or Allison asking

why you cant get treatment for pain 'without using all these narcotic" I bet you get a responce

RUREADY

I've used just about every legal pain relief technique, shot, medication, patch, therapy, that one can use due to Tank Accident and Back Injury and surgery in the military. I also see a famous pain specialist and one thing I've learned is that everyone is very different and no one single therapy works for eveyone? However, using a combination of therapies seems to work the best. I learned while I was in Asia that Acupunture was a very valid treatment and works pretty well for muscle pain especially. Accordingly, there are lots of diffrence levels of skills for therapists so you want to ask around to get the best person to treat you properly. For me, it lasts about 24 to 48 hours and jsut reduces the pain a bit but at least it's something and most of all does not require medications to work which makes it a very good option. If someone is skeptical -they should at least try it anyway....it's certainly worth it....same with massage therapy...

nothing will work once a month but I have tried everything you could name

for pain. Another program that helps is Empowered Veteran Program or Mindful

Movement learning to deal with pain and still enjoy your life Motion is Lotion the more

you do the less your pain level will be. They not only treat pain but just about anything

you have. I say try something different because pills are on the way out with VA

Those who are in GA here is a great doc http://www.georgia-acupuncture.com/

Hey - just want to add to the conversation. I have had psoriatic arthritis for the past 20 years. I've used biologics, steroids, NSAIDs and much stronger medications. I've had better luck with some than others, however I will add that you need to move it or lose it to the best of your ability. The less I move, the more I ache. Which feeds the cycle of not wanting to move, depression, etc. I don't suggest pushing past the point of reasonable discomfort, but I do advocate to just keep moving. Push through what you can and get support for what you need. Just taking a walk can change your day. If you're in a chair, wheel around, etc. Do what you can, but keep moving. Best to all!

Chronic pain suffers, most of the time I have nothing but bad stuff to say

about treatment for pain at Atlanta VA or any other pain management programs

at VA. I been in treatment for about 7 weeks and I must say I feel better and doing

more things than I have in a very long time my pain level was 8-9 everyday now its a 4-5

at most. Atlanta was trying this acupuncture treatment out with chronic pain patients and to lower narcotics

use. It help me and most vets who have tried it have said they have great success with their treatment

so now they are adding more doctors at Atlanta Vamc to begin treating patients with acupuncture for chronic pain

suffers. If you haven't tried this its a good time to ask for it and go to it with a positive feeling

to try something new and to lower your narcotic use it might help a lot more veterans They had one

person doing this on '' A hidden list to see him at first they told me they didn't offer this at ATL VA than

after complaining to higher ups for some type of treatment because of VA cutting back on the pill. They have to

offer you something else that has to work for You. Then they told me he wasn't taking anymore patients

''BINGO'' for me send me to a fee base or outside provider. They did and I just had to say something good

at least one time best thing ever from VA.

thtas how they operate,, they told me the same lie regarding chiropractic care,,, the VAMCs will lie to you in a heartbeat/
