You have to keep trying and contact everyone, but I would start with under Secretary Hickey and then Secretary McDonald. In my case I sent an email to both and Secretary McDonalds office responded first, good luck hope something works.

One of these days some reporter (with a pair) is going to FOIA (I hope) VA for copies, redacted for privacy) of all of our emails to the Sec and Under Sec....then the public will really know how much crap you all go through.

I was talking to Jerrel Cook this AM (our radio producer)and told him I get angry every May as Memorial Day approaches and our grateful nation celebrates with beer kegs and hot dogs , nothing wrong with that, yet MANY people I know and we all know some, do not even put out a flag or give a thought to all the men and women who have died for us, due to their service to the great US of A on Memorial Day...some people don't think about vets , alive or deceased, on ANY day.

GRADUATE ! Nov 2nd 2007 American Military University !

When thousands of Americans faced annihilation in the 1800s Chief

Osceola's response to his people, the Seminoles, was

simply "They(the US Army)have guns, but so do we."

Sameo to us -They (VA) have 38 CFR ,38 USC, and M21-1- but so do we.

I have to agree with you Berta and nothing makes me more upset than seeing a US Flag torn or in shreds on a flag pole, jmo!

  • 4 weeks later...

Thank you everyone I really do appreciate all the help. My journey has been short when compared to many others but I am glad I got what I asked for and not have go the long way through many appeals. I have had this Multiple Sclerosis since 1991 and only in the last 3 years has it taking a turn for the worse. It has knocked me down but not out, so I am still here and I will continue here for good.

Still have many questions about this new SMC rating of R1. I will be around to ask those questions and other ones too I am sure. So I will have to use our Marine Corps saying that has stuck in my head for ever, that once a "Marine always a Marine". Same goes for here once a "Hadit always a Hadit"

Jefmil50,

One question......how much time did it take for Secretary McDonald to respond after you sent your e-mail to him? Congratulations once again!

Thank you all for your service to our great nation.
