0 lotzaspotz
Are you asking if you can give your private (non-VA) Doctor the DBQ form to complete that covers the disability you're claiming? If so, yes, you can establish a diagnosis that way as evidence. However, the VA may (and likely will) still arrange for you to undergo a compensation and pension exam of its own. 0 Gastone
Non VA Dr or for that matter, VA MD/DO or other treating Medical Specialist, that is Medically Competent to issue a DX, is really all that is necessary to establish a DX. Clinician notes regarding what went into the DX, are very important. Even if you have a DX, that possibly qualifies for a SC, a C & P DBQ will be needed for Rating purposes. There are occasions when the C & P exam & DBQ isn't necessary. My SA was Awarded as a CAD Secondary based on my Non VA Sleep Neurologist DX and Clinician Notes establishing the Nexus. The Raters determine if & when a C & P Exam is necessary and also the need for a GP or Specialist. I believe it's a rule, all BVA Remands always require a C & P exam by a Specialist, a GP Dr is not optional. 0 Moderator broncovet Posted September 16, 2016 Moderator Share Posted September 16, 2016 Sure. If the DBQ so states that you have "x" diagnosis, and if its signed by a competent medical professional, then yes, this should suffice as a diagnosis. 0 Carl the Engineer
All of my original claims were by VA examiners only. Now, some of my icreases and secondaries are based on civilian docs with C&P exam, both. So, yes, Hamslice

Yes thats exactly what I was wondering. Although my doctor is Active duty (My wife's active air force) Im wondering if that will carry a little more weight with the VA in comparison if I was being seen by a civilian doctor.
