Post Void Dribbling

Question

I have an issue with post void dribbling. It was noted in my service medical records. I never submitted a claim because it was manageable. It has gotten much worse so I'd like to submit a claim.

I was wondering how to VA will verify the use of absorbent material. When I went to see the doctor about it, I mentioned the use of absorbent material and was even wearing one when he examined me and put me on flomax. I got a copy of my medical records and it doesn't mention the use of absorbent material. I was wondering how the VA will verify the use of absorbent material? Will it be during the C&P exam?

If you want or need something from the VA you have to be adamant and ask for it in no uncertain terms. Hinting to a VA doctor will not produce even a kleenex.

Doc, I am having trouble with post voiding dribbling, can you please refer me to a specialist right away, or do I need to make an appointment through the Veterans Choice Program to insure that I get an appointment within 30 days? In the meantime, can you please prescribe absorbent material for me so that I can carry out my every day work and social life without fear of an accident? If not, why not?

If you have not already filed a claim, file a VA form 21-0966, notice of intent to file a Fully Developed Claim before the end of this month to preserve your effective date of claim and backpay. Then get your evidence together and file a FDC, they will send you for the C&P exam. If you have access to an outside doctor get an outside diagnosis and opinion also. Read CFR 3.303 then when you file that claim, copy and cite CFR 303 (b) underline and highlight "however remote"

Good luck Chris!

AND, you could Secure Message the VA Dr that put you on Flo Max. Readdress your appointment discussion regarding your Leaky Faucet and query as to why no mention of it appears in your MHV Treatment Notes. Start thinking "Paper Trail."

Is it an SC and what % disabling, you'll have to file the Claim, FDC preferably.

SC or not, if you have proof of the condition and need for absorbent material, you should be elegible for the VA's Yearly Clothing Allowance. Get the application on-line or at your VMC Prosthetics Dept.

What does your VA Urologist think is causing your problem, Prostate issues?

Just because some things can not be "tested" does not mean you can not get benefits for them.  Tinnitus is a great example.  The Va can give a hearing test, but cannot test to see if you actually have ringing in the ears.  (No, dont claim tinnitus if you dont really have it just to increase your benefits.  The va has a way of finding out stuff like that, over time, and the results wont be in your favor.)

"Post void dribbling" sounds like an euphamism for partial incontinence.  You know your situtation better than I do, but dont let VA docs use this euphamism diagnosis if you have to wear a pad.  "Post Void" is a rather meaningless term, since your dribble is always "after a void".  I mean, gee, you first went potty at under a day old, so everything after that is "post void".

If you have urinary or fecal incontinence, then seek benefits for that, not some post void dribble.  Of course, you want to be honest with the doc about the level of incontinence, but any level of incontince is a real social problem.
