Never told About disability

Question

I was diagnosed with a mental disorder in 1988 and never told or treated and then discharged in 89. Filed for other issues that were denied and the VA tells me that a favorable finding is that I was diagnosed with this mental disorder. So I decided to put the other claims on hold and file for the mental disorder they diagnosed me with and never treated me for. My question is how should i pursue this and can I get effective date back to discharge since they never told me?

I would say you did the right thing by Appealing this to the CAVC.

Did they go back to your July 1975 for EED?  IF YOU HAVE THE MEDICAL DOCUMENTION OF ALL THE TBI CAUSED  YOU HAVE A GOOD CASE TO YOUR BETTER  EED (EARILLY EFFECTIVE DATE)... REMEMBER THE EED IS WHEN WE FILE OUR CLAIM OR WHEN FACTS FIRST FOUND  THE ONE OF THE OTHER.

HOWEVER IF YOU FAILED TO APPEAL THIS BACK THEN THEY WILL FIGHT YOU HARD ON THIS.

IF YOU NEVER RECEIVED A EED you may want to Lawyer up.

But remember even though they diagnosed you in 1988   and you never filed  then there is no EED BACK TO THAT DATE,,,YOU MUST FILE A CLAIM FOR IT.

I RECOMMEND YOU HIRE AN EXPERIENCED ATTORNEY ON THIS EED CLAIM.  REQUEST YOUR C -FILE FIRST THING.
